Romine former Head of Power Assets at Castleton Commodities, and John Vivenzio former CTO of King Street Capital. While at Castleton Steve Culliton and Brad Romine led the effort to acquire 3GW of generation assets in North America.
Our deal team works on a variety of strategic initiatives and financing-related transactions. You will have meaningful exposure to senior leaders, client representatives as well as the ability to create strong relationships with junior bankers.
Candidates should be top performers who are willing to work hard in an unstructured environment where initiative, creativity, maturity, and enthusiasm for learning are highly valued. Although the role will be based in Houston, TX, willingness to travel and develop in- person relationships, especially with the team in Darien, CT is strongly preferred.
Essential Job Functions
- Engage in the quarterly valuation of portfolio companies using methods such as DCF, public company multiples, and precedent transaction multiples
- Compute performance return metrics (TWR, IRR, MOIC, etc.) for private capital portfolios.
Compute and track performance metrics for investments and interface with management / leadership to problem solve and improve performance
- Collaborate with internal financial teams for data gathering and analysis, and liaise with external valuation firms as well as portfolio investments/companies
- Support deal teams in deal execution, including acquisitions, divestitures and other commercial transactions
- Proactively engaging the deal teams as well as support functions on funding needs and timelines, as well as a thorough assessment of funds flows and associated preparation.
Assume primary responsibility for the interface between GLRP and the managers / operators of specific assets, with a focus on financial and operational performance KPIs and cash funding and distributions from the assets
- Provide ad hoc support for various valuation and investment performance-related requests
- Offer valuation-related support to the enterprise FP&A during the annual budgeting and multi-year planning process
- Developing, maintaining and using financial and risk models for asset performance tracking
- Perform company and industry research and gain in-depth understanding of sector trends
- Integrate and manage acquired companies and assets into the GLRP platform
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years of pertinent experience in equity valuation, banking, private equity, or venture capital
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and strong interest in problem solving
- Resourcefulness, intellectual curiosity, enthusiasm, with a genuine interest in finance and extensive experience (10+ years) in energy, commodities and associated logistics and infrastructure. Preference for experience with power and liquid fuels
- Highly organized, with the initiative and ability to multitask and work with limited supervision as a leader of a team
- Strong written and oral communication skills – demonstrated experience working with senior leaders (C-level) is a must
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting and/or a related field; MBA would be a plus/preferred
- CFA or CIPM designation, or progress in one of these programs, would be advantageous
