Summary: The Corvallis Clinic Surgical Center EndoscopyTechnician works with the endoscopy team to treat patients withgastrointestinal problems. Endoscopytechs will interact with patients, physicians, and nurses to perform duties andother related procedures including preparing the room and equipment, assistingwith procedures and specimen collection, cleaning, and disinfection ofequipment, and maintaining stock supplies. The endoscopy tech is accountable for the quality and reliability incompleting assigned tasks and in the delivery of patient care. The endoscopy tech follows establishedstandards and guidelines in accordance with Corvallis Clinic Surgical CenterPolicies and Procedures.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Will participate and maintain a culture withinThe Corvallis Clinic that is consistent with the content outlined in theService and Behavioral Standards document. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, andembrace the principles contained within.
2. Works within scope of practice to assist theRN in implementing the plan of patient care. Assists to place patient monitoring devices including, blood pressurecuffs, surgical cautery pads, cardiac monitoring electrodes, pulse oximetersensors, and nasal cannulas as directed.
3. Knowledge and ability to prepare set-ups,materials, and equipment for cases as needed and assists gastroenterologists andRegistered Nurses with endoscopic procedures as directed to provide efficientflow and completion of the schedule.
4. Understands concepts of cleaning, high leveldisinfection, and sterilization.
5. Follows manufacturers instructions for use ofendoscopes, electronic imaging equipment and troubleshoots equipment to ensureproper function and maintains a safe environment for personnel and patientsafety. Notifies appropriate personalpromptly of equipment problems/repair needs.
6. Assists to place patient monitoring devicesincluding, blood pressure cuffs, surgical cautery pads, cardiac monitoringelectrodes, pulse oximeter sensors, and nasal cannulas as directed by theRegistered Nurse.
7. Assists in collection and complete labeling ofspecimens, documentation in specimen log. Communicates with the lab as necessary.
8. Validates/refreshes knowledge and skillsregularly and attends/participates in assigned in-service and performanceimprovement opportunities.
9. Participates in supplies ordering and storage,and resources management.
10. Performs all additional duties as assigned.
Education,Licensure and Experience:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Experience may include unencumbered license asCNA1 or CNA2. One (1) year experience as an endoscopy tech preferred.
3. Experience in medical terminology preferred.
4. CurrentBasic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certificationwithin 90 days of hire required.
Knowledgeand Skills:
1. Knowledge of technical requirements for mostendoscopy procedures, time management to organize, plan, and complete work inthe required timeframe.
2. Ability to work compatibly with physicians, patients,and other staff.
3. Ability to handle multiple taskssimultaneously and cope with the hazards of a busy, fast paced workenvironment.
4. Good verbal and written communicationskills.
5. Experience in computer applications.
Position Urgency:

Shifts:
M-F (8 or 10 hour shifts, TBD by staffing manager) - 40 hour work week with the exception of holidays and first training week. The facility is closed on holidays so guaranteed hours do not apply, only hours worked. Hours worked also applies for the initial training week which may be less than 40 hours.
