Overview
TRC is a global consulting firm providing environmentally advanced and technology-powered solutions for the oil and gas, power, and infrastructure industry. We are seeking a Siemens Spectrum EMS/SCADA Engineer to join our TRC Digital team
TRC Intelligent Grid Solutions, a business unit within TRC, delivers IT/OT expertise and solutions to best address our client needs and has a proven track record supporting utilities in the deployment of complex operational technologies. We have broad capabilities for IT/OT project delivery while being highly specialized to meet the needs of each individual client. We are the trusted advisor and implementation partner for electric and gas utilities undergoing digital transformation and can offer deep experience across utility OT systems.
The EMS/SCADA Engineer will be an essential part of our team to grow the consulting practice in the Operational Technology and Real-Time Systems domain
The EMS/SCADA Engineer should have experience with the Siemens Spectrum platform and the associated applications, preferably Spectrum 4 or Spectrum 7.
Responsibilities
  • Perform systems administration of operating systems and other proprietary platforms to include but not limited to operating system and firmware upgrades, system optimization, configuration management, performance, uptime, and health monitoring and security patching in support of Energy Management System (EMS) platform
  • Implement technology solutions to optimize the effectiveness of the EMS platform, and help develop appropriate procedures for their implementation and operation
  • Design, develop, & test Inter Control Center Communication Protocol (ICCP) connectivity and external integrations (ESB, OSI Soft PI, Tera Data) with EMS Platform
  • Perform necessary technical corrective actions to restore failed or failing technical services on EMS platform
  • Conduct code review, deployment, testing and monitoring of break/fix patches and modifications
  • Investigate and troubleshoot platform and application issues that are identified by the operations team and support defect resolution with the customer and or vendor
  • Ensure that the systems database is adequately sized and configured to support all remote field devices utilizing various protocols and calculated values
  • Provide auditable documentation recording the changes on the Energy Management System platform delivered as part of support services
  • Deliver weekly report detailing Energy Management System support deliverables completed during the reporting week

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of work experience in Power system applications - Power Flow, State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Load Frequency Control, Dynamic Stability Analysis, Load Forecasting, Operator Training Simulator (OTS)
  • Highly preferred work experience in Siemens Spectrum with background in power system applications & concepts
  • Experience working in Linux/ Windows Operating systems & working experience with Relational Databases (Oracle, SQL DB) is preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Required) or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields
