Short Description

With the direction and support of the Department of Emergency Medicines,EMS Medical and Operational Leadership, the EMS Medical Direction Coordinator will have responsibility for supporting the development, implementation, advancement and evaluation of a comprehensive EMS Medical Direction program.

 

Responsibilities include:

• Education, marketing, public relation and performance improvement activities relative to CUH Medical Direction Agencies.
• Act as a liaison, providing one point of contact for Medical Direction agencies to facilitate paperwork, contracts and other agency needs.  
• Maintain a strong, positive relationship between the hospital and area EMS providers.
• Focus on education, performance improvement and regulatory issues.

At the direction of and in conjunction with the Department of Emergency Medicines,  EMS Medical and Operational Leadership:

• May assist in yearly clinical competency evaluations of Medical Direction agency staff
• Develop and implement a remediation plan for clinical issues or deficiencies identified during performance improvement activities
• Develop and implement education and training programs to meet the specific needs of Medical Direction Agencies
• Attend Medical Direction agency staff meetings to provide input and updates on clinical operations, oversight, and education
• Review the clinical policies and protocols to ensure consistency with state and national standards
• Support other activities involving medical oversight of Division activities (e.g., certification courses, disaster management, resident/medical student education, research)
• Support EMS Outreach activities as directed
• Support Cooper affiliated EMT training program in the form of providing instruction and coordination of clinical rotations

Experience Required

Minimum of 5 years prehospital 911 experience.

Public speaking experience preferred .

Prehospital education experience preferred

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required

License/Certification Requirements

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)  certification.

NJ EMT-Instructor credential preferred, otherwise, complete NJ EMT-Instructor requirements as specified by NJ OEMS.

 

Current BLS certification

 

Current state issued driver's license

Special Requirements
