Employment Consultant - Adult Services
40 hours a week
Schedule is around the needs of the individual place at a business. Can include early mornings, evening, weekends, and holidays.
Hiring range: $15.75 - $17.17. depending upon education and experience

Position Summary
This position is responsible for assisting individuals with barriers to employment to successfully obtain a job with a local employer in the community.
Ariel Clinical Services Mission
To provide safe, nurturing, and supportive environments for our clients so that they may have the opportunities to develop their strengths, maximize their potentials and fully participate in society.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Gather and complete information needed for referrals to the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR).
2. Conduct outreach to businesses and gather job information through a needs analysis identifying specific tasks and traits the employer is looking for when hiring.
3. Present a plan recommending the hiring of an individual that meets the needs of the employer and utilizes the strengths and abilities of the job seeker.
4. Provide initial on-the-job training and coaching to the individual placed regarding work tasks, schedules, employer rules, work facilities, and workplace culture.
5. Develop an individual long-term support plan identifying natural supports at the business.
6. Maintain up-to-date employer contact information.
7. Complete required documentation daily.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Knowledge of job development best practices based on consultative sales model.
2. Knowledge of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation system and requirements.
3. Knowledge of rules and regulations.
4. Knowledge of basic computers and technology.
5. Knowledge of community resources (social, public agency, and information) in order to assist clients in accessing these resources.
6. Knowledge of the type of work Ariel and other social service agencies participate in.
7. Skilled in exercising sound judgment to achieve a positive outcome.
8. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality concerning the client, their family, background, and treatment.
9. Ability to demonstrate regular attendance, and to work outside of traditional office hours including nights, weekends and holidays as necessary.
10. Ability to effectively communicate verbally, electronically and in written format in both individual and group settings.
11. Ability to be flexible, and able to change direction rapidly with a positive attitude.
12. Ability to work independently or within a group, prioritize workload, complete a wide variety of tasks in a timely and accurate fashion.
13. Ability to provide reliable, insured transportation for self and others through the community served.
14. Ability to demonstrate regular and reliable attendance on an on-going basis.
Education and Experience
Required:
•High School diploma or equivalent, minimum age 18 and a minimum of two years' experience with developmental disabilities.
Preferred:
•Background in sales and or marketing
•Prior experience in job development and placement with the Developmentally Disabled population.
•Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) certification
Certifications/Licenses
Required:
1. Valid Colorado Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.

Physical Demands
1. This position requires that the incumbent be capable of bending, sitting, stretching, and/or reaching regularly for periods up to two hours without a break.
2. This position requires that the incumbent have adequate hand and finger dexterity to properly perform the functions of the position.
3. This position requires lifting regularly up to 25 pounds, pulling, or pushing persons in wheelchairs; transferring persons weighing more than 50 pounds to and from wheelchairs must be performed with another staff member.
4. At times, physical interventions may be required.
5. This position requires the ability to hear, see, smell, and distinguish temperature, at a level which is adequate to ensure client and staff health and safety. Adaptive devices are acceptable.
6. This position will require daily driving of up to one hour per day and occasionally as needed.
7. Climbing may be required from time to time.
