Employee Relations Specialist I
The Employee Relations Specialist provides consultative services to Company managers on a variety of issues related to motivating, coaching, and addressing performance and behavior concerns with their staff members. This position works with managers and employees throughout the Company to address concerns, resolve conflict, develop performance improvement plans, and involuntary terminations of employment, including reviewing and developing appropriate documentation. The Employee Relations Representative also assists with Unemployment and Drug and Alcohol Administration, and functions as back up to Leave Administration.
The Employee Relations Representative 1 reports to the Employee Relations Manager and takes day to day direction from the ER Specialist 2.
Location: Medford, OR (On-site)
Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations
  • Using strong HR knowledge, provide guidance and support to managers throughout the organization
  • Draft legally compliant discipline and coaching documentation with supervision
  • Draft, review, and make recommendations related to Involuntary Terminations with supervision
  • Assist managers in creating performance improvement plans and determining appropriate action plans
  • Evaluate each situation on a case by case basis, giving consistent, sound guidance and recommendations based on the circumstances of the situation
  • Document and track assistance offered and provided in appropriate system (Prolaw and/or OneNote)
  • Assist with department monthly reporting insuring deadlines are met
  • Review and provide recommendations on HR policies, programs, and practices
  • Assist as needed with internal investigations
  • General Functions
  • Assist managers and vendor with Unemployment Insurance questions
  • Annual review and reporting of UI Vendor performance metrics
  • Assist dealership staff with post-employment drug/alcohol questions and processes
  • Assist with Last Chance Agreement process with direction from HR Manager
  • Function as back up to Manager on Drug and Alcohol Administration
  • Function as back up to Administrator, especially related to Motor Vehicle Reporting
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly department reporting using Excel and proprietary software
  • Provide support and assistance throughout department as needed
  • Be available during normal working hours to assist managers over the phone and via email
  • Adherence to and support of Company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook

  • 2+ years' experience in Employee Relations, Employment Law, or Human Resources Generalist position

  • Bachelor's Degree in any of the following Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Training, Communication, or Psychology
  • Experience in the following: Employee Relations, training, coaching, employee development
  • College level Human Resources coursework
