The Employee Benefits Administration Operations Leaderrole is accountable for helping build out the national suite of EB administration and technology solutions Alera firms utilize to support their clients. This position will oversee the Center of Excellence (COE) teams focused on the various solutions across the US, supporting the day-to-day operations and ensure the centers can support the migration of Alera Group administration work into the Centers of Excellence. They will ensure best-in-class solutions are utilized and measured through SLA's alongside feedback from our firms and clients. The Operations Leader will work with sales and marketing to ensure proper materials, operating guides, pricing, and other necessary documents are available and current to drive consistency and quality across the solutions.
Strategic Operations:
  • Strategic operations and tactical knowledge of how every function works together to deliver products and services effectively and efficiently.
  • Combine the company's strategy with the business operating systems, operating model and organization structure.
  • Translate strategy into actionable steps for growth, implementing goal setting, performance management and annual operations planning.

Financial and Risk Management:
  • Focus on and drive continuous improvement and revenue growth.
  • Manage budgets and financial reporting.
  • Develop, implement and enforce operational and financial processes and policies that drive growth and achievement.
  • Operate within the Alera framework, policies and procedures.
  • Create risk mitigation strategies that support the client experience.
  • Execute certain critical operational and financial tasks.
  • Solve problems and strategies to minimize any risk in the future.

Leadership:
  • Provide the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure teams have the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures and people in place to effectively grow the business with financial strength and operating efficiency.
  • Provide leadership that embodies the mission and values of Alera.
  • Lead a high performing team of business unit leaders.
  • Be a key contributor to Alera leadership and collaborate across roles, regions and locations/offices.

Communications/Collaboration:
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with Alera partners, colleagues, key stakeholders and vendors.
  • Communicate accurately, timely, and transparently to team members, Alera partners and key stakeholders.

Desired Outcomes:
  • Enhance the experience of our clients and customers.
  • Increase client retention.
  • Differentiate from competitors with quality of service around the products/deliverables.

Key responsibilities
  • Help develop the national plan and vision for the EB Administration & technology business within Alera. This includes helping support nationalized pricing, marketing materials and procedures.
  • Set up standard operating procedures across all Center of Excellence solutions and assist in the migration of EB Administration work over to the COE's.
  • Oversee the Project Management and Production Planning team members daily to review capacity, team deliverables and performance
  • Creating the P&L structure across EB to ensure can measure current profitability and future scale.
  • Partner with the EB National Administration leader and finance to ensure the P&L is operating efficiently.
  • Partner with HR to ensure proper staffing is occurring and that the right talent is employed.
  • Provide proper forecasting and staffing projections based on current clients and the sales pipeline
  • Provide direction on documentation of work requests, participate in discussions to define and assign work to appropriate resources across the various EB services provided
  • Provide operational performance reports to Alera leadership and the firms to identify successes, risks and needs on a regular cadence.
  • Ensure team is executing against all goal related activities and proactively engage the clients and internal teams as needed on open items.
  • Ensure an environment of collaboration and trust across the various teams to continue fostering a positive team atmosphere.
  • Partner with the sales team on resource planning for prospect visits and scope of services presentations throughout the organization
  • Review and analyze performance on client and firm feedback to identify risk areas with the team as needed
  • Oversee the team responsible for monitoring quality escapes & ensure process improvement steps are rolled out nationally
  • Participate in the review of solutions & vendors to ensure Alera has the best-in-class solutions as well as continuously evaluate process improvement with these solutions and new services
  • Provide direction and leadership towards the creation of training and ongoing support for the COE teams, sales and Alera firms.
  • Assist in getting Alera SOC certified while remaining in contact with internal partners, so we remain compliant throughout the process.

Qualifications
  • 8+ years progressive experience working with brokers, carriers, and clients in the Benefits Administration
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and within a company constantly focused on growth and evolving
  • Experience with Technology, Health & Welfare Benefits or Human Resources strongly preferred
  • Highly motivated, confident, energetic and must possess a positive attitude
  • Strong relationship management and project management expertise, analytical skills and the ability to engage and motivate multiple individuals across the organization and at all levels within the company as well
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to apply these skills in either verbal or written form when interacting with various firms, clients, and team members
  • The Ops Leader must be a resourceful and a creative problem solver - constructively working with team members to find solutions and able to communicate those back out across firms and within the Centers of Excellence
  • Tech savvy - must have a comfort level with learning new technology and being able to communicate effectively when discussing with clients
  • Availability to travel up to 15%
