Responsibilities:
- Receive emergency calls and gather necessary information from callers
- Determine the nature of the emergency and dispatch appropriate emergency personnel
- Monitor and track the status of emergency personnel and provide updates as needed
- Use law enforcement databases and systems to access information and provide assistance
- Stay calm and composed in high-stress situations and provide reassurance to callers
- Document all calls and maintain accurate records of incidents
Skills:
- Proficient in operating phone systems and handling multiple calls simultaneously
- Excellent typing skills for accurate data entry during emergency calls
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with callers, emergency personnel, and other dispatchers
- Ability to analyze situations quickly and make critical decisions under pressure
- Conflict management skills to handle difficult or emotional callers with empathy and professionalism
- Possession of a valid certificate or training in emergency dispatch procedures is preferred
