Job Description
Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Emergency Room Nurse to join our fast-paced and dynamic healthcare team. As an Emergency Room Nurse, you will be responsible for providing specialized care to patients in emergency situations. You will evaluate patients' conditions, administer immediate medical care, and coordinate with the healthcare team to ensure efficient and effective patient management. This role requires exceptional critical thinking, quick decision-making abilities, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assess and triage patients based on their condition, prioritizing urgent cases for immediate care.
2. Administer medication, IV fluids, and perform various medical procedures following established protocols and guidelines.
3. Observe and record patients' vital signs, symptoms, and medical histories accurately.
4. Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
5. Administer emergency interventions and life-saving techniques as required.
6. Monitor and adjust the patient's condition, response to treatment, and overall progress.
7. Provide emotional support and educate patients and their families regarding their illness, treatment plans, and available resources.
8. Maintain accurate and concise documentation of patient care, treatment, and progress.
9. Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and medical waste.
10. Follow infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
11. Remain updated with the latest advancements in emergency medical procedures and techniques.
12. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
13. Act swiftly during emergencies to stabilize patients and liaise with other healthcare professionals as required.
14. Assist in triage and patient admissions, ensuring appropriate utilization of resources.
15. Provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff during critical situations.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
2. Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in Emergency Room nursing.
4. BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications.
5. Proficient in performing invasive procedures such as IV insertions, catheterizations, and wound care.
6. Ability to remain calm, composed, and make quick decisions during high-stress situations.
7. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and medical staff.
9. In-depth knowledge of Emergency Room procedures, trauma care, and emergency interventions.
10. Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
11. Sound understanding of infection control protocols and occupational health and safety standards.
12. Proficient in using electronic medical record systems and medical equipment.
