Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Staunton District is excited to offer and announce an opportunity to serve as an on-call non-CDL Emergency Operator.
The Edinburg Residency is seeking non-CDL operators with good driving records to be on-call during inclement weather within Shenandoah, Warren, Clarke, and Frederick counties. Incumbents will operate equipment such as front-end loader, backhoe, tractor, and motor grader, to clear snow and ice. Perform manual labor as needed. This position will also be on-call for other types of weather emergencies. Performance of these duties may require work outside of normal business hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. VDOT will determine when essential positions are required to report.

Minimum Qualifications
Valid Driver's license;
Experience performing physically demanding manual labor;
Experience operating equipment;
Ability to work 12-hour shifts, day or night.
Additional Considerations
Experience performing snow removal with equipment;
Advanced level experience operating equipment such as front-end loader, backhoe, tractor, motor grader and skid steer loader, etc.

VDOT utilizes a market-based pay program, which has been approved by DHRM. Therefore, advertised rates of pay may or may not align with the Commonwealth pay bands.
