Job Summary Phoenix College (PC) is seeking a full-time residential faculty who instructs students from diverse backgrounds and/or cultures in a full range of Emergency Medical education classes with a focus on paramedicine and Emergency Medical services in accordance with the PC's learning-centered college philosophy. These courses include, but are not limited to, anatomy and physiology, basic and advanced cardiology, pharmacology, airway management, medical and trauma patient management, and scene management in the emergency setting.

The faculty member will also assist in the supervision and oversight of students in the clinical and field internship setting in addition to collaborating with various agencies and departments to ensure the highest quality educational experience. Uses multiple methods of instruction, assessment results, and appropriate technologies to engage students in learning, enhance teaching, and promote student success. Demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, assessment, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties.

The instructor may teach classes in multiple delivery formats, including in-person, hybrid, and online, and may teach daytime or evening classes at various locations. Must be available on a rotating basis to work days, nights, and weekends, subject to change based on the needs of the college, district, and program. Work assignment(s) may extend past normal academic semesters and hours.

Essential Functions Supervise and instruct students from diverse backgrounds in classroom and/or online settings, using a variety of presentation techniques, in introductory EMT, EMS, and Paramedicine topics; maintain, develop, and implement the current curriculum in accordance with national, state, and local standards and/or regulatory requirements; plans and conducts student orientations and coordinates events necessary for classes laboratories, clinical and field experiences. Develops course syllabi and materials that include learning-centered and equity-minded strategies to engage students and promote student success: creates instructional materials and develops curriculum that demonstrates innovation in teaching by focusing on student learning, retention, and achievement; incorporates instructional technology and alternative delivery of courses; instructs in both traditional and non-traditional settings such as Learning Communities, short term courses, hybrid and on-line courses; college and departmental assessment tool; participates in continuous evaluation and improvement of teaching and learning. Assists and responds to problems/requests from students during in-person office hours, virtual office hours, and electronic communication; serves on collaborative work teams with faculty, staff, administration, and community stakeholders, keeps Department hours and accountability Remains current with new trends and developments in the field through attendance of conferences, seminars, and workshops and active within the community; engages in the academic life of the college by participating in district-wide, campus, and departmental activities including Department meetings, committees and projects.

Minimum Qualifications 1. Five years of occupational experience in the following fields: Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Emergency Management, Public Safety Leadership, Fire Science, Nursing, Physician's Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Medical/Emergency Physician OR Three years of occupational experience in the following fields as well as a Bachelor's degree: Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Emergency Management, Public Safety Leadership, Fire Science, Nursing, Physician's Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Medical/Emergency Physician. OR A Master's degree or higher in the following fields: Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Emergency Management, Public Safety Leadership, Fire Science, Nursing, Physician's Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Medical/Emergency Physician.

2. Current American Heart Association (AHA) instructor; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR/BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications 3. EDU 250 - Teaching and Learning in the Community College or equivalent must be completed within two years of the date of hire.

This will include Instructor Methodologies Course in EMS Training. Desired Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management or a similar area from an accredited institution.

These include Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Emergency Management, Public Safety Leadership, Fire Science, Nursing, Physician's Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, Medical/Emergency Physician. 2. Five (5) or more recent years in a field/clinical setting as a Paramedic or emergency nurse.

3. Experience teaching advanced Emergency Medical Technology (Paramedicine) courses, community college preferred. 4.

Current American Heart Association (AHA) instructor; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR/BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications. 5. Experience in a program director position, involving strategic/operational planning, hiring, performance evaluation, mentoring, and/or data-driven assessment.

(Related to an EMS/EMT/Paramedicine program) 6. Current National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Paramedic. Also must possess Arizona State Certified Emergency Paramedic certification.

7. Knowledge of and experience working with AZ BEMS training rules and CoAEMSP/CAAHEP standards. 8.

Experience with software (such as American DataBank, FISDAP, myClinicalExchange, Excel, etc.) and Learning Management systems (Canvas and/or JBL Learning), implementing and monitoring measures to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation policies and requirements of federal, state, and local agencies. 9. Experience developing and/or teaching online/hybrid courses.

Provide a list of courses with details of what was developed and taught. Special Working Conditions Must have current National Registry of EMTs certification as a Paramedic and/or current AzDHS/BEMSTS certification as a Paramedic and/or Arizona licensure as a registered nurse. Must meet Maricopa Community Colleges Allied Health Policies, immunizations, drug screen, background check, physical, valid DPS Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card, and other related requirements to precept students in the clinical and field internship settings.

Meets all CoAEMSP/CAAHEP accreditation requirements. Must have current AHA, BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor certification. Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License is required; the employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving: Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.

Will be required to travel to or be assigned to all MCCCD locations, in addition to various clinical and field internship sites. Will be required to work off-site or in a remote status May be exposed to potentially contagious and infectious diseases and other blood-borne pathogens. Must be available on a rotating basis to work days, nights, and weekends, subject to change based on the needs of the college, district, and program.

Work assignment(s) may extend past normal academic semesters and hours. May be required to teach in-person, online, or in a hybrid format. May require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and/or viewing a computer screen.

May be required to lift and/or carry up to #50 lbs.
