Bilingual EMT Job Summary:
We are looking for a team player to help in our mission to care for the medical needs of people seeking asylum here in the United States. Our patients are processed by Federal authorities and released to us at either our South Phoenix Clinic or to one of our community partner locations. They come from all over the world, of every age, and many have serious medical needs that we tend to. We need dedicated, compassionate EMTs with a desire for helping the underserved. The work we do is dynamic, challenging, and rewarding.
Our bilingual EMTs perform medical assessments, triage, and patient care delivery with asylum seeking families and individuals. In this position, you will work under supervision of a provider to ensure that you are delivering adequate level of care to patients.
Core Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Able to effectively lead other medical and administrative team members at our primary location at the IRC or at the community centers we serve within Maricopa County as assigned, with or without on-site Clinician presence.
- Able to work 1:1 with medical providers for in person and telehealth evaluations of patients
- Able to understand and execute all other roles needed, including but not limited to:
- Intake screening
- COVID testing
- Medication dispensation from our Pharmacy based on provider orders
- Effective communication and education to patients based on clinician direction.
- Effective medical documentation meeting all State of Arizona standards.
- Effective scribe for medical providers as needed.
- Direct sick patient care including those with infectious diseases, wounds, trauma, psychological issues, and both acute and chronic illnesses.
- Data entry protocols
- Translation protocols
- Educate staff members as needed.
- Participate in team meetings as needed
- Participate in regular education activities
- Be willing to work in any location needed within Maricopa County as assigned.
- Work on assigned projects related to advocacy for Asylum Seeker Healthcare
Required Attributes:
- Completion of EMT training from a state-approved training center or institute
- Active NREMT certification
- Active Basic Life Support Certification approved by the American Heart Association
- Completed COVID-19 vaccination series
- Good references
- Consistent and reliable attendance history
- Must pass background check including driving record
- I-9 verification/E-Verify compliance
- Work holidays and weekends when assigned
- Compliance with Employee Handbook and associated company policies
- Compliance with HIPPA and other federal and state laws.
