Emergency Medical Technician (Emt) Trainee - Earn While You Learn Program

The UVA Earn While You Learn Trainee Program provides structured coursework and paid on-the-job-training as a full-time, benefitted employee. EMTs are responsible for performing Emergency Medical treatment communication and transport to the Medical Center. The EMT-Basic is an entry-level basic life support professional who is capable of functioning independently at the basic life support level but is still focused on gaining knowledge and experience.

Competitive salary + benefits.
You will be paid a total of 40 hours /week. All course and certification fees will be paid for by UVA Health in return for 1 year FULL-TIME commitment as an employee at UVA Health once course is completed.
Emergency Medical Technician ( EMT ) Trainee - Earn While You Learn Pr ogram

• Assesses and treats ill and injured patients in accordance with local and University Protocols.
  
• Maintains safety as a primary role through out all aspects of care and transportation.
  
• Identifies potential areas for improved care.
  
• Interfaces effectively with peers and customers and assumes responsibility for professional development of self and others per department policy.
  
• In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
  

Position Compensation Range: -
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
Experience: No experience required .
Licensure: No licensure/certifications are required to apply to this role.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping/traveling, climbing (ladder, steps), and driving. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull > 100lbs. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, cold, heat, noise, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
