POSITION SUMMARY
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) respond to emergent and non-emergent calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured, and to transport the patient to a medical facility in a safe, secure, and professional manner.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each key function satisfactorily based on five overall skills categories; assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation and teaching/coaching. POSITION SUMMARY EXPANDED:
Under the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act,?(“The Unity Bill”) this position is considered a “Safety-sensitive position. “Safety-sensitive” is defined to include “any job that includes tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others.” Employees working in “safety-sensitive” roles are subject to this exception and subject to disciplinary action in the event of a positive test for marijuana or its metabolites.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assess a patient’s condition and determine a course of treatment
- Provide first-aid treatment or life support care to sick or injured patients
- Report their observations and treatment to physicians, nurses, or other healthcare facility staff
- Document medical care given to patients
- Inventory, replace, and clean supplies and equipment after use
- Transporting patients and clients utilizing company vehicles in a safe and professional manner.
- Effectively communicate with headquarters regarding schedule progress and instructions
- Complete daily vehicle pre-trip and post trip inspections, and maintain vehicle cleanliness
- Assist clients and patients as needed to safely complete the transfer
- Must be able to accurately complete activity logs/vehicle reports.
- Must be able to understand and operate GPS devices and cell phones
- Perform all duties as assigned by Cohesive MediRyde.
Shifts
- Three / 12-hour shifts per week
- Five / 8-hour shifts per week
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to project a professional Image.
- Must comprehend, and comply with company rules and policies
- Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license
- Must possess good driving record
- Pass a mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
- Must pass a mandatory criminal background test
- 1-2 years of EMT experience preferred
- Strong customer service skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Persons who have been found guilty by a court of law of abusing, neglecting, or mistreating individuals in a health care related setting are ineligible for employment in this position.
- Freedom from illegal use of drugs.
- Freedom from use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Obtain and maintain BLS within 90 days of employment
- Current EMT Certification Required
