Summary
The ED Tech II provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nurse. Responsible for patient support, environmental and supply management functions, as part of the patient care team. The ED Tech II reports to the Nurse Manager with daily shift supervision by the Chief Tech and Charge Nurse.
Education
High school or equivalent (GED).
Certification, Registration & Licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS).
Emergency Medical Technician Advanced (EMT-Advanced).
Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-Basic).
Experience
Previous direct patient care experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
- Responds to requests for patient care assistance as delegated by the Registered Nurse (RN).
- Maintains skill level to perform patient care tasks, to include, intravenous catheter insertion and medication administration, as delegated by the RN.
- Maintains skill level to administer medications as delegated by the RN.
- Collects and processes laboratory specimens.
- Maintains department supplies and equipment.
- Assists with clerical duties.
- Performs job specific requirements and other duties as assigned.
- Serves as a preceptor for new employees.
