Job description

eero is seeking an experienced WiFi Software Development Engineer. As a core member of the WiFi software development team, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining our advanced WiFi networking solutions. You will collaborate with a dynamic team of engineers and cross-functional teams to innovate and optimize our WiFi technology, ensuring an exceptional user experience.
Key job responsibilities
- Enhance the mesh experiences for eero's whole home connectivity products
- Analyze connectivity problems and come out with complete solutions
- Dive deep into embedded system internals
- Improve wireless drivers, firmware, hostap components
- Design and implement new roaming and RF optimizations
- Drive decisions about testing improvements
- Work with core operating system, mobile and cloud teams to deliver features
A day in the life
As a WiFi Software Development Engineer at eero, your day begins with a team stand-up to outline daily priorities. Your role involves hands-on development and working directly with access points and networking equipment. You will be focusing on code reviews, thorough testing and collaborating with testing teams to ensure the highest quality of our connectivity solutions. Additionally, you'll be handling customer issues and resolving them to improve customer experience. Your day may conclude with collaborations with international teams. This routine, enriched with diverse tasks including customer interaction, perfectly aligns with eero's mission to provide stable and secure home connectivity.
About the team
WiFi team provides the most secure, fast, reliable and complete WiFi router system to our customers. We innovate on behalf of our customers. The team members work closely to provide best customer experience. We own design to development to quality assurance with dedicated labs.
We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:
Los Gatos, CA, USA | San Francisco, CA, USA
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 4+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- Proven experience in WiFi software development, particularly with 802.11 protocols.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with wireless networking hardware, including access points, routers and switches.
- Familiarity with 802.11, 802.3, DHCP, IPv4, IPv6, Linux bridge, and network stack internals.
- Knowledge of embedded systems or consumer electronics.
- Ability to work independently and effectively within a dynamic team.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
