What You'll Do:
Traeger is seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer on our sustaining team located at our Salt Lake City, UT headquarters. In this role you will be responsible for managing and executing on sustaining activities and responsibilities with Traeger's launched products. As part of this responsibility, the Embedded Systems Engineer will run the Dev Ops for product improvements, issue escalations, and error/bug corrections. In addition, the engineer will utilize platforms like MemFault to proactively address product experience issues by utilizing both internal and external firmware developers. This role requires a high level of organization, creativity, attention to detail, and coding ability to support Traeger's sustaining engineering responsibilities. You will be involved in collaborative activities with Customer Service, Technology, Performance, and many other groups.
How You Will Help Us Win:
- Lead product sustaining projects within the electrical engineering domain driven by a cross functional team of stakeholders in Traeger's Product Lifecycle Management.
- Sustaining dev ops
- Lead hardware cost down projects on launched products
- Root cause analysis and solutioning on EE product issues
- Manage and deploy Traeger's OTA process
- Lead process improvement activities in this roles areas of responsibilities
- Administration of Memfault and other software platforms
- Create and maintain wireless protocols to our cloud system.
- Work closely with our IT and Application Development Teams to ensure smooth transfer of data from the grill to the cloud.
- Create robust software solutions that deliver on performance specifications and creating positive customer experiences.
- Create and manage engineering documentation that meet industry standards.
- Perform engineering analysis on but not limited to layout optimization, cost, and software design.
- Work closely with outside suppliers to deliver prototypes on time and at cost that are aligned to business expectations.
- Work well with all stakeholders and understand the needs of the whole product team.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
- 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area, 10+ preferred
- C/C++ Languages
- Experience with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth communications protocols
- Communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, CAN)
- Have advanced skill set in embedded system design with preemptive multitasking real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Dev Ops experience
- Experience in the design, development, and testing of debug firmware
- Experience with IoT products and working knowledge of IoT architecture, consumer products a plus
- PC literate in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Interaction with overseas resources, ability to travel a must
- Initiative and a wide degree of creativity is required
- Experience in component selection that will meet performance requirements, availability, and cost targets
- Highly self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to work with teams cross functionally
- Must have proven experience developing and designing physical products
- Ability to effectively create and communicate ideas and reports
- Demonstrable interest and skill in the field of product design
