Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer

In this highly visible role, you will help identify potential opportunities for in-house manufacture, lead efforts in the design/development of new products, assist with the process development for automotive sensor, as well as provide support for a variety of existing product families.

Embedded Software Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Developing Embedded Software for automotive sensors in C/C++.
  • Researching and developing product and test specifications, and requirements.
  • Establishing conceptual and detailed component/circuit/assembled product design.
  • Completing Bill of Materials – component/assembly specs and drawings.
  • Evaluating and approving components.
  • Overseeing pre-production subassemblies and final assemblies through to pilot production.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving quality/performance issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5 years of related product design/development experience.
  • Knowledge of speed, position, and current sensors, transient protection circuitry, and various technologies used in engine management devices is preferred.
  • Experience coding in C/C++ and Python.
  • Experience with schematics/PCB layout design using OrCAD, and/or Altium.
  • Experience coding within the following IDEs; Keil uVision and Eclipse Embedded C/C++.
  • Experience following software design best practices including; use of source control, git flow, documentation.
  • Experience with automotive sensors with CAN/LIN interface.
  • Experience with various communications protocols, such as SPI, SENT, I2C, etc.
  • Experience with ARM based processors, microcontrollers.

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters in Electrical Engineering

  • 5+ years of related product design/development experience.
  • Matlab, SolidWorks experience a plus.
  • Knowledge/experience with system modeling, numerical analysis and DSP techniques a plus.
  • Knowledge of battery management systems in engine management is a plus.
