Venstar is one of the largest thermostat suppliers in the world. We design and produce Venstar-branded products, as well as designing and building OEM thermostat products for the biggest names in the HVAC industry.
In addition to thermostat controls, Venstar is a leader in Energy Management Systems for small box retailers. From your nearest coffee shop to the largest auto parts retailer, Venstar's Surveyor EMS monitors and controls the energy use of more than 30,000 retail locations across the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
Compensation: 110,000 - 140,000 +

Senior Embedded Engineer
This position requires an experienced embedded software engineer who specializes in embedded Linux and MCU firmware development to join the Venstar IoT Devices Engineering Team. You will be involved in the efforts to develop and enhance the current and future cloud connected Venstar smart devices and products. Requirements:
Position is Hybrid: Must be located in greater Los Angeles area
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering from a credited US based University
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- 5+ years working experience with cloud connected embedded firmware
development - 5+years working experience with Linux kernel driver development
- 5+ years of experience building custom MCU firmware with evidence of adhering to industry standard security principle
- Expert in C/C++ and embedded firmware concepts (over-the-air firmware upgrades,
peripheral interfaces, power consumption management, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Excellent understanding of cloud connected firmware design processes
- Excellent understanding of interfacing with API endpoints
- Experience with embedded GUI development
- Excellent grasp of fundamental computer science concepts, good at solving complex
technical problems, and using common design patterns - High standards for code quality, maintainability, and performance
