ELP GROUP LEADER AM One (1) Anticipated Vacancy Position: ELP Group Leader AMLocation: Vista La Mesa AcademySchedule: 6:35am-8:35am, Monday - FridayWork Year: 208 paid days per year Expanded Learning Program (ELP) Group Leader JOB SUMMARY: Supervised by the designated ELP administrator, has direct contact with students, grade level teachers, school staff and parents. In coordination with the ELP Site Leader, ELP administrator or other staff; work with individual and groups of students, reinforcing academics, in a learning environment; perform clerical duties; provide a variety of enrichment activities in an expanded day setting in support of the goals and objectives of the expanded learning program (ELP). The ELP Group Leader supports the equity work of the district through the implementation of the Expanded Learning Program that is designed to increase access to educational and enrichment services to students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Supervise students during scheduled time and provide a safe and positive learning environment;2. Prepare materials and supplies for daily program activities;3.

Monitor groups of students in assigned areas proactively to prevent conflicts or concerns from developing in a timely manner to appropriately prevent harm to the student population.4. Assist with the coordination and planning of age appropriate academic and enrichment activities; presents and/or reinforces learning concepts;5. Lead and supervise groups of students in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities including games, art, Science Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM), performing arts, health & wellness and other related activities;6.

Assist students with homework assignments. Explain questions and enhance understanding of homework as needed;7. Maintain records with appropriate accounting programs, weekly scheduled activities and requested materials;8.

Assist with scheduling, maintain accurate records of student participation and attendance utilizing appropriate accounting programs in coordination with the ELP team;9. Monitor students' arrival and departure to the expanded learning program and implement the policies on checking on absent students;10. Ensure that school rules are followed and student behavior toward staff and other students is appropriate;11.

Reinforce positive behaviors and communicate inappropriate behaviors to Site Leader; 12. Follow assigned area of supervision of students, as provided by ELP Site Leader, ELP administrator or other school staff; 13. Monitor restrooms and other facilities to ensure rules of the school are being followed by students using these areas;14.

Monitor children daily at the end of the program until all children have been picked up by parents;15. Treat all students in an equitable, impartial, professional and respectful manner;16. Communicate daily with ELP Site Leader about student supervision concerns or safety concerns;17.

Maintain a neat, clean, safe, healthy, and sanitary classroom and play environment by cleaning up after activities, as needed; prepare classrooms and program spaces for custodial staff cleaning.18. Use available work time to ensure student referrals are made to the ELP Site Leader and that supervision areas are clean and organized for next activity;19. Monitor assigned supervision areas for safety concerns that should be immediately corrected and reported to appropriate school staff;20.

Administer basic first aid and CPR as necessary. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Organize and distribute nutritious snacks;2.

Attends meetings as assigned to convey and/or gather information required to perform functions.3. Performs other functions, duties and tasks related to this class as assigned (e.g., District-required training). JOB REQUIREMENTS KNOWLEDGE OF:1.

Basic child development principles and practices2. School rules and regulations3. Supervision methods in school settings4.

School procedures for student discipline5. Safety hazards for students and staff6. School emergency procedures during supervision7.

Procedures for approaching unknown person on school campus8. Methods for resolving student conflicts9. Procedures for reporting and assessing student injuries 10.

Behavior management & motivation techniques11. Correct English usage grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary12. Oral and written communication skills13.

Basic Math skills ABILITY TO:1. Work with a diverse populations of individuals2. Communicate in a calm, neutral and non-confrontational manner3.

Act quickly with professional judgment4. Enforce school rules and regulations5. Deescalate student conflicts6.

Monitor student behavior7. Intervene proactively with students and de-escalate student conflicts8. Problem solve student issues9.

Work with groups of students10. Demonstrate respect, acceptance and fairness in work with students11. Operate a computer and assigned software and operate a 2-way radio to receive and send communication12.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing13. Accept direction and follow instructions14. Work in a positive and collaborative manner with students, staff and public15.

Identify and report safety concerns16. Maintain a clean, safe, professional and positive learning environment17. Maintain Confidentiality EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:1.

High school diploma or equivalent;2. Paid or volunteer experience with school aged students preferably in school setting (e.g., youth engagement, youth development); LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:1. District pre-employment test or completion of 48 college semester units2.

District post-offer physical examination and drug screening3. Fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice4. Tuberculin skin test before employment and every four years thereafter or a chest x-ray5.

Valid First Aid and CPR certificate WORKING CONDITIONS: ENVIRONMENT:1. Indoor and outdoor environments often2. Seasonal heat, cold and adverse weather conditions3.

All areas of school campus including fields, cafeterias, auditoriums, hallways, classrooms, restrooms and offices PHYSICAL DEMANDS:With or without reasonable accommodations1.
