THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $41,887 - $48,170.
The Administration for Children's Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of New York City's children and families by providing child welfare, juvenile justice, and early care services. In child welfare, ACS contracts with private nonprofit organizations to support and stabilize families at risk of a crisis through preventive services and provides foster care services for children not able to safely remain at home. Each year, the agency's Division of Child Protection responds to more than 50,000 reports of suspected child abuse or neglect. In juvenile justice, ACS manages and funds services including detention and placement, intensive community-based alternatives for youth, and support services for families. ACS is also a key part of NYCs early childhood and education continuum, providing child care assistance to thousands of child welfare involved and low-income children so they can access safe, affordable, quality care.
CFWB has three (3) borough-based Resource Areas (RAs) responsible for verifying and re-certifying the eligibility of all low income (non-TANF) families for voucher child-care services. This includes Eligibility Determination and Administrative which includes Intake, Data Entry and Scanning & Indexing.
The Eligibility Case Processor is responsible to process and certify eligibility for voucher cases for families in need of childcare. The Eligibility Case Processor will also liaise with the Eligibility Team Leader to ensure that childcare cases are processed accurately and timely according to office procedures and the appropriate state regulations.
Specific responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Follow up with community-based programs and providers for additional documentation to complete childcare eligibility/recertification.
- Provides technical support to the contracted Community Partnership and Family Enrichment Agencies in the areas of childcare eligibility determination and enrollment
- Works with Agencies providing services to Homeless families to ensure expedited childcare applications for needy families
- Troubleshoots/responds to inquiries from social service Agencies/childcare programs re: case status's
- Responds to requests from parents/providers/other interested individuals concerning eligibility and enrollment
- Participates in community-based outreach activities, on an as needed basis
- Review case information and certifies eligibility for the childcare subsidy program
- Review childcare case documentation and ensure accuracy and compliance with state and local regulations
- Certify eligibility and/or terminate or reassign childcare enrollments according to criteria, procedures and regulations
- Recertify childcare eligibility for families receiving subsidies
- Update Control Log with relevant case status information
- Respond to parent's inquiries re issues with childcare eligibility
- Liaise with the Central Intake unit re: logging-in cases and assignment to eligibility team
- Compile and assess the information in mail-in recertification cases
- Assist in implementing special projects requiring information on childcare cases/enrollments
- Access HRA One Viewer and/or ACCIS to ascertain case and child information
- May distribute childcare information to parents, providers and programs
- Process Voucher Waiting List Request forms
- May scan and index case documents onto the HRA One Viewer

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.
