TITLE: K-3 TECHNOLOGY TEACHER
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requirements for this position as required by the Department of Education and Cultural Affairs and the State of South Dakota.
- Bachelor's degree with major or minor in computer technology.
- Teaching experience (preferred).
- Requirements to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: K-3 Building Principals
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To help each student develop competence in basic computer skills; to provide hands-on
experience using computer software and other technological devices; to
encourage students to develop their special talents in the field of computer technology; to prepare students for all on-line assessments; ensure that SD K-3 technology standards are being met.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teaches courses in computer skills, technologies and applications to students utilizing adopted courses of study and other appropriate learning activities.
- Designs learning activities that will enhance computer skills.
- Provide students with hands-on experience using computers and technology.
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive classroom environment.
- Assess each student's progress in computer skills and knowledge.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress.
- Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
- Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs within the school of assignment and/or on a district level.
- Participate cooperatively with the building principals in the evaluation process in compliance with the board policy and the Brookings Education Association Master Contract.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district, and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Perform other tasks and duties as may be assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The board shall offer a contract with salary, benefits and length of school year to be
determined as stated in the Brookings Education Association Master Contract between
the employees in the certified collective bargaining unit and the Brookings School Board
in compliance with state statutes.
EVALUATION PROCEDURE:
This position is responsible to the building principal and the performance of this position
will be evaluated by the building principal.
