Job description
JOB GOAL: To provide students with a safe, productive, and stimulating learning experience to enhance each students unique skills, abilities, and potential academically, socially, and emotionally. 1. Attend new teacher orientation;2. Participate in planned professional development activities during the school day, after school hours, and during the summer per the terms of the negotiated agreement; 3.
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated;4. Support and implement the districts philosophy of education and school-wide goals and initiatives; 5. Plan a program that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students;6. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students;7.
Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior;8. Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior;9. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students;10. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved;11.
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required;12. Work with a team to determine the needs of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as needed;13. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities;14. Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation;15.
Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner;16. Be available to students and parents or guardians for conferences and meetings outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms;17. Plan and supervise assignments for paraeducators and volunteers(s);18. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence;19.
Familiarity of and adherence to policies, procedures, and expectations on the school website, handbooks, and school-provided training; 20. Ensure knowledge and practice of the schools programs related to student safety and emergency protocols;21. Attend meetings and serve on staff committees as required by local policy and state law and regulations;22. Other duties as assigned.
