NOTICE OF VACANCY
POSITION:Special Education Teacher
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
STARTING DATE: Immediately
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with a Special Education Endorsement.
• Graduate of a recognized college or university.
• Highly Qualified, as defined by the Michigan Department of Education.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Learning Disability endorsement and/or Emotional Impairment endorsement.
• Experience developing, writing, and implementing IEPs.
• Experience using Illuminate software.
• Ability to work collaboratively with Tier 3 intervention team (Title 1 teacher, Special Education staff, and school therapist), and be a positive team member throughout the building and district.
• Ability to communicate and consult with general Education Teachers to coordinate the implementation of IEP goals, including accommodations and modifications in the general education setting.
• Knowledge of Common Core State Standards and experience in administering and interpreting assessments (NWEA, Acadience, STAR, state assessments, etc.) to inform instruction and communicate with parents.
• Experience with students with significant behavioral needs, including writing Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Plans.
• Knowledge and experience in highly engaging instructional strategies, including the use of technology.
• Experience with RtI/MTSS, by designing instruction for remediation and reinforcement of core curriculum.
• Ability to establish a positive relationship with parents and home providers, and communicate with them regularly about growth, progress, problems, and successes.
• Demonstrated ability to instruct students individually and in groups, based on knowledge of child growth and development, and using multi-sensory techniques.

SALARY: As per the contract.
