  • COMPENSATION: Per Teacher Salary Schedule based on education and experience. District 308 grants experience credit on the salary schedule for up to 10 years of prior, verifiable, contractual full-time teaching experience.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • A valid/registered Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Social Worker Endorsement required, LCSW certification preferred
    • Comprehensive knowledge of school social work, including associated laws, ethical issues, professional expectations and standards,a nd an understanding of the academic/personal/social-emotional development of children.
    • Ability to conduct direct interventions with students
    • Skill in serving as an effective case manager
    • Strong speaking and written communication skills for use in fostering effective relationships with students, staff, administrators, outside agencies, and families, including inpatient/outpatient mental health providers; ability to communicate effectively in Spanish preferred.
    • Skill in collaborating as part of a team to assess the needs of students and act as an intervention strategist within an MTSS framework

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Social Emotional Interventionist provides stable and vital support and services to vulnerable students experiencing heightened states of emotional, behavioral, and/or social crisis while effectively implementing a tiered system of supports. The Social Emotional/Mental Health Interventionist will implement interventions aimed at increasing student attendance and decreasing instances of chronic truancy, implement trauma-based therapeutic interventions for students and families within the school setting in order to address barriers to learning and achievement, and develop and implement school-based supports that leverage family and community partnerships for the success of the student.
    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
    1. Develops, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive model of support to improve student attendance, particularly for students identified as chronically truant
    2. Facilitates the development and coordination of targeted intervention plans to support the student
    3. Serves as the liaison between the family, school, and cummunity based resources and supports, including the identification of students for group and individual therapy referrals to Family Counseling Services of Aurora
    4. Collects data and monitors student progress on implemented interventions, including collaborating with Teachers to develop academic success plans, tracking student attendance, and monitoring behavior
    5. Completes individual check-in's with students on a daily, weekly, or as-needed basis
    6. Provides group or individual therapeutic interventions for students identified as experiencing crisis or trauma by utilizing an evidence based approach (CBT, DBT, ACT, etc..)
    7. Pilots and provides feedback on identified interventions and makes recommendations for use within the District's MTSS framework
    8. Builds capacity among and/or provides professional development to general education staff who work with students that are in need of social/emotional support
    9. Collaborates with the school's MTSS & IEP teams by providing frequent student updates and ensuring appropriate social emotional interventions and supports are implemented
    10. Collaborates with other schools and their teams to assist with the implementation of a district-wide system of supports for student attendance
    11. Participates in regular meetings at the district level with other SEL Interventionists, the Director of Social Emotional Learning, and the Social Work Department Lead to identify and problem solve needs and challenges related to the program or individual students
    12. Works with families to identify community agencies and resources for continued care and support
    13. Provides crisis intervention services such as: conducting risk assessments and and implementing deescalation strategies consistent with best practices.
    14. Performs all other duties as assigned.
