Elementary School Teacher (Multi Subject) & Director Of Curriculum

We are Katherine Michiels School (KMS) - a private progressive school in the heart of San Francisco. We are a dynamic, constructive, team of teachers inspired by the pedagogy of the Reggio Emilia schools, and growing the whole child.

This position is a teaching and curriculum development opportunity for PreK through 5th Grade with an emphasis on 2nd to 5th grade in a small program that honors team teaching, collaborative, constructive, progressive, learning.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

· Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field

· Teaching credential

· Five years teaching experience in related age groups

· Able to keep pace with fluid curriculum structure

· Experience teaching the Reggio Emilia approach, project-based learning, or collaborative, interdisciplinary teaching

· Experience developing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion curriculum and mission statement

· Experience teaching mindfulness and implementing social emotional learning

· Spanish language proficiency preferred

JOB DESCRIPTION:

· Teach through exploratory projects that encompass a variety of curricular areas to incorporate relevant skills and concepts.

· Develop curriculum that helps students build foundational skills with clear and positive structures, expectations, and routines in the classroom to optimize child development and consistent learning.

· Maintain documentation of students’ intellectual, social, and emotional development.

· Build parent involvement and parent communication for the elementary program.

· Collaborate with partner schools to incorporate innovative curriculum.

· Participate in bi weekly faculty meetings.

Pay: $75,000 - $95,000 annual salary (for 10-month school year), depending on experience. Plus benefits package: Health insurance, Paid time off, Professional development assistance, Retirement plan

Location: 1335 Guerrero St, San Francisco, CA 94110, USA

Full-time - 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday. Faculty also participate in school wide events throughout the school year occasionally on weekends or evenings.

August 19th, 2024 start date with some contracted curriculum development work prior to official start date.
