Elementary Paraprofessional

This position is for an elementary school paraprofessional. The hired candidate must be willing and able to work directly with students individually and in groups in a variety of settings. This includes both regular education students and special needs students. He/she must be an effective communicator who is able to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers and other school personnel. He/she must also be reliable, punctual and committed to the full-time responsibility of serving our students. The hired candidate must be both flexible and an effective problem solver, and he/she must be able to persevere in supporting student success in a variety of circumstances.

Ideal candidates for this position will be ambitious and motivated by the opportunity to get their foot in the door as an educator, and will be eager to take on challenges and develop their capacity for serving students. This position will serve students from kindergarten through fourth grade. The majority of time will be spent as a classroom paraprofessional in both a regular education classroom and special education pullout classrooms assisting the teachers in delivering academic intervention services, supporting students’ social and emotional needs, overseeing projects and activities, and assisting the teachers with administrative tasks. The paraprofessional will cover for daily lunch and recess duties and assist with Enrichment. When needed, the paraprofessional would also be available to cover for other early childhood/elementary classrooms (K-4).

Pay range is dependent upon your education and work experience. This will be determined by Human Resources.

The school day at the Parthum Elementary is 7:45-2:45. Paraprofessionals are required to attend from 7:15-3:15. Daily attendance is critical.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

-High school diploma or equivalency required.

-Bachelor’s or associate’s degree preferred.

-ParaPro Test MUST be taken and passed if the hired candidate does not hold an Associate's Degree.

-Experience working with school-aged children preferred.

-Proficiency in English required; Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred.

-Must be able to lift and carry general supplies and materials.
