Elementary Music Teacher - Newburgh Elementary

Primary purpose:
To create a flexible Elementary Music program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education in accordance with each student's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Responsibilities:
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:

• Elementary Music Teacher who will work with children in kindergarten through fifth grade to enhance their understanding and appreciation of music.
• Candidate must be a creative, team player motivated by student success as she/he introduces students to technical music components, musical notation, types of musical instruments, vocals/singing, movement/dance, and music history.
• This teacher will create a music program disseminated through a classroom environment conducive to learning and personal growth; will establish positive rapport with students, and will provide appropriate instruction to further each student's musical abilities.
• Must be willing to enhance elementary school culture and curriculum through creating student music programs and performances presented during the school day.
• Willingness to sponsor additional extracurricular music activities, fine arts club, chorus, or similar music enrichment program an added plus.

Qualifications:
A. Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from accredited university.
B. Indiana Teaching License for Elementary Music
C. Experience is preferred, but not necessary for hiring.
