i3, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Electronics Design Engineer to support the US Army Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC) in weapon system design and development. This position will involve circuit board design and test primarily for military munition applications. Work duties include component selection, schematic design and capture, board layout, testing, and debugging, as well as system level integration and engineering documentation. The position will include significant interaction with other Design Engineers, project managers, technicians, and external customers. This position’s responsibilities include:
- The selected candidate will be expected to execute in small team environment through all phases of the product life cycle from conceptual development and detailed design through fabrication, testing, and post-delivery support.
- Developing robust software and hardware solutions and leveraging their engineering training to perform circuit and PCBA design and analysis, FPGA designs, embedded processor/microcontroller designs.
- Technical trade studies, analog/digital/mixed signal interface design, evaluation of technology improvements, laboratory test/troubleshooting, and flight-test/live-fire support.
- Partner with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, project managers, technicians, and the customer to develop solutions that adhere to a diverse set of requirements.
- Support resolution of design issues discovered during the manufacture and test of deliverable systems. This will include troubleshooting board-level issues, assessing failures for root cause, and identifying corrective actions.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution. Additional experience may be substituted for degree.
- Three years’ experience with Electronics Design, checkout, debug and troubleshooting of electronic printed circuit board assemblies.
- Hands-on laboratory experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods for both software and hardware.
- Motivated self-starter and problem solver with experience executing in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Final Secret Clearance.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with electronic safe and arm components and design for munitions.
- Proficiency using Altium Designer software is a plus.
- Proficiency in programming C/C++ low level algorithms.
- Experience with MATLAB software.
