BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:
The P IT TRAVELING MAINTENANCE Department of the P GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: NON-EXEMPT)
JOB FUNCTION:
Installs and maintains generating station electrical equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Fundamental Responsibilities:
- Performs maintenance on all power plant electrical equipment under direction or direct supervision in accordance with skill level attained.
- Works from blueprints, sketches, instruction manuals and written and oral instructions.
- Installs equipment. Tests and locates electrical faults on all types of electrical equipment.
- Inspects and repairs oil circuit breakers and similar equipment. Performs breaker trip tests. Tests and filters insulating oil.
- Services exciter and collector ring brushes.
- Inspects and repairs transformers.
- Installs conduit and conductors.
- Services voltage regulator electrical components.
- Sets up instruments for electrical tests such as hi-potting.
- Maintains cathodic protection systems. Takes and records data as required.
- Operates material handling and other equipment as required.
- Performs necessary rigging for assigned work.
- Records a description of work completed.
- Directs the work of personnel in lower classifications on any or all of the above operations.
Other Responsibilities:
- Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
- Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to identify and distinguish different colors and color hues required.
- Company Written Job Knowledge Test (Journeyman, 1st Year).
- Graduate of applicable Apprentice Program or equivalent training and experience.
