- Operate electrical safety equipment- ammeter, ohmmeter, infrared camera, digital multi-meter, voltage tester, etc.
- Isolate and repair overhead pole lines.
- Connect surge protectors and lightning arrestors.
- Repair and install electrical switches - air and auto based.
- Maintain transformers- clean bushings, filter/replace oil, oil testing, etc.
- Check and troubleshoot electrical trips and connect primary and secondary transformers.
- Complete cable splicing involving, cutting, stripping, taping, grounding, pouring connectors, forming cable for splice, and Hi pot testing.
- Pulling wire by hand or tugger.
- Maintain and repair switch gear - starter, breakers, overloads, infrared, wire, etc.
- Repair low voltage AC and DC circuits.
- Maintain motor circuits - push button, wire, switch gear, pressure, vibration, switches, etc.
- Install, repair, and maintain motors.
- Troubleshoot circuits - wiring, fuses, resistors, relays, etc.
- Maintain switchgear - rack breakers in and out, check relays, Meg, clean, pull breakers, etc.
- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain EOV's
- General Craft work to include Blinding, Heat Exchanger Maintenance, Steam Tracing Repairs, etc.
- Attend and participate in morning toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- 2- or 4-year technical degree in Electrical technology or minimum 5 years of relevant field experience.
- HSD/GED is required.
- Journeyman certificate required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must have working knowledge of common industry standards, codes and practices such as, OSHA electrical codes, state codes, and NFPA 70E.
- Must have working knowledge of how to read and understand electrical schematic readings and P&IDs.
- Must have working knowledge of wiring terminology, conduits, and conduit hardware.
- Knowledge of PLC is preferred.
- Ability to work overtime, work after hour callouts, and occasional plant shutdowns/startups.
- Ability to work efficiently and safely alone as well as part of a team.
- Ability to physically perform all duties required which may involve (among others): bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders, lifting and carrying loads up to 50 lbs.
