Employee Type: Co-op (Trainee)
This program requires students currently pursuing an associate or technical electrical degree, who have completed a portion of their curriculum, and will be completing their program after the co-op/intern experience. This program is not designed for graduates. Work will be performed at a surface lignite coal mine.
Job Description:
Duties/Tasks:
- Troubleshooting and repairing electrical mining equipment and facilities
- Working with different voltage electrical systems
- Assisting with MSHA electrical inspections on mine equipment
- Operate support equipment
- Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established safety procedures, and stat and federal environmental regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong work ethic with effective communication skills and a creative and innovative attitude
- Ability to work efficiently in a team environment, as well as individually with minimal supervision
- Working knowledge of AC and DC circuits, electrical controls, and troubleshooting with an understanding of electrical circuit schematics
- Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions
- Valid Driver's License
Educational Requirements:
Enrolled in accredited electrical program and in good academic standing.
