Job Description
To inspect, plan and coordinate the installation, repair and preventive maintenance of electrical systems, electrical components and equipment at CFA Kinross Business Office Facilities. This position is to comply with all applicable department policies, procedures, MIOSHA standards and laws while performing required duties. Instructs and supervises skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled prisoners and staff in performing the above listed duties. This position utilizes and instructs lower level workers in the proper use of various tools to effectively accomplish these duties. Develops material orders and specification as well as monitors material inventories. Processes and monitors work request and preventive maintenance database. This position is required to possess and maintain a valid State of Michigan, LARA, Master Electricians License.
Position requires travel of which could include overnight stays.

Required Education and Experience
Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
Experience
Electrician Master Licensed E10
No specific type or amount is required beyond that required for licensure.
Electrician Master Licensed 11
One year of electrical trade experience equivalent to an Electrician Master Licensed E10.

New hires to the MDOC along with previous MDOC employees that are returning after being away from the department for more than two years will complete Non-Custody New Employee Training (NCNET) either 40 hours or 80 hours of initial in-person training based on their level of offender contact and job classification. All new employees will complete additional online training to successfully complete their non-custody new employee training.

Special Requirements, Licenses, and Certifications
Possession of a master electrician's license.
Some positions may require possession of the Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the Secretary of State as required by Public Act 346 of 1988 to operate a designated state vehicle.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.
Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year's Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
