This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Serves as Senior Electrician responsible for operation, maintenance and repair of all electrical and electronic equipment and systems, utilizing voltages up to and including 600V 3phase 1,000 amp.Qualifications: Who May Apply: US Citizens

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) ELECTRICIAN without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the full range of electrician tasks. I am able to use a variety of test and tool kits/equipment such as fiber optic spacing and connecting kits, digital storage oscilloscope, optical fault finder, volt ohmmeter, epoxy kit, light sensing meter, tachometer meter, tic tracer, megger, amp meters (digital and analog), thermo couple checker, and a variety of common electrical tools. I have the ability to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install components of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems. I work under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who reviews my work for completion. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position requires the incumbent to possess current state, national and/or local certifications or licenses that a Journeyman or Master Electrician or may hold. (You must provide a copy the license or certification as part of your application packet.)
- PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Often has to climb ladders and poles and use platforms to get to hard-to-reach places to make repairs and installations. Uses coordination of eyes, hands, feet, legs and body in installing, repairing or testing equipment. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to distinguish between colors.
- WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed inside and outside during the day and at night, as required by emergencies; on high structures over turbulent water with strong currents; in the proximity of moving machinery and high tension electrical wires; in cramped quarters; and on scaffolds or slings as required by repairs to be made. Occasionally works behind bulkhead or in tunnel below water level. Is subject to falls, drowning, burns, fatal and non-fatal electrical shocks, injury and discomfort, exposure to moving equipment and machinery, loud noise, inclement weather, and dangerous icy conditions. Uses safety equipment such as life vest, protective ear devices, hardhat, steel-toe shoes, respirators and protective clothing.
