DESCRIPTION:
Our client is the thoughtful, forward-looking choice for Lighting Designers, offering a carefully focused selection of products that open new design possibilities and make it easier to complete quality lighting projects. The primary objective of this position is to troubleshoot and service returned products.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service on lighting fixtures, controllers, and control interfaces.
- With focus on Stock Repair, Warranty Repair or Replacement, Credit Return, and Customer Repairs: Visually and physically inspect all returned products. Diagnose problems, exercise good judgment with regard to the cost-effectiveness of repair solution, replace or repair parts, test, and make adjustments.
- With specific focus on Customer Repairs: Visually and physically inspect all returned products. Diagnose problems, exercise good judgment with regard to the cost-effectiveness of repair solution, replace or repair parts, and where necessary consult with customer (or CS Rep) regarding estimate of costs, recommendations for use, and future maintenance. On approval repair and thoroughly re-test adjusting as necessary.
- Be accountable for and demonstrate safe and responsible use of tools: calipers, power drills, screw drivers, laser testers, light meters, heat guns, and other necessary tools to repair and test products.
- Demonstrate good judgment in determining outcome of Return Items; Resale LOC 1, Resale LOC 2, Disposal, etc.
- Document and report all issues recurrence of defects and loss of sales. Provide timely feedback to the company regarding product failures or performance concerns.
- Participate in department wide training, cross training, and mentoring programs for new and existing team members.
- Proactively participate in new product assessments offering constructive recommendations to increase product life and usability as required and prepare to mentor co-workers as such products might require future adjustment or repair.
- Expand product knowledge with a view to gaining a thorough understanding of installation issues from power and data integrity, control system programming, integration, and commissioning of systems.
- Communicate clearly, regularly, pro-actively, and in a timely manner service findings and feedback to the appropriate Service team managers/staff.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate's degree in electronics, electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering.
- 2-3 years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in repair/service of lighting, small electronics, or technical products.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions, follow established procedures, and keep accurate records.
- Good observation and analytical skills.
- Must be able to diagnose and repair/service lighting equipment and control systems.
- Working knowledge of DMX protocol and lighting systems. Attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and time-management skills with the ability to work independently with little supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- 18 months as Repair Technician 1 or similar experience in related lighting or video-based field.
