New Orleans, LA: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an accomplished Electrical Engineer with expertise in systems integration of electrical and electronic systems in the maritime domain. As an Electrical Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, documenting, and integrating complex electrical and electronic solutions for maritime applications. Your proficiency in electrical engineering will enable you to create comprehensive design documentation, ensuring seamless installation and integration of electronic systems on maritime platforms.

 

Essential Duties:

·         Electrical Systems Integration: Lead and participate in the integration of Electrical Systems in maritime applications, including navigation systems, integrated bridge systems, control systems, communication systems, and information technology systems. Define and manage interfaces between electrical and electronic subsystems, ensuring effective communication and coordination.

·         Design and Development: Perform the design and development of Electrical Systems, and cabling plants, considering performance, safety, and regulatory compliance. Utilize your electrical engineering expertise to propose innovative solutions and improve system compatibility and efficiency.

·         Design Documentation: Develop and review general and detailed design drawings of maritime electronic systems including arrangement drawings, installation and interface control drawings, cable and wiring harness drawings, and other relevant electronic system documentation.

·         Verification and Validation: Contribute to the development of verification and validation plans for Electrical Systems to ensure compliance with specified requirements. Identify and address any discrepancies or issues during the verification process.

·         Electromagnetic Compatibility: Lead the electromagnetic integration of mission systems, and electromagnetic compatibility/electromagnetic interference testing and certification.

·         Electrical Systems Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve technical issues related to Electrical Systems integration. Collaborate with hardware engineers, software engineers, and other relevant team members to implement effective solutions.

·         Compliance and Standards: Ensure that the integrated Electrical Systems meet industry standards, safety regulations, and maritime-specific requirements.

·         Collaboration and Leadership: Work effectively in cross-functional teams, collaborating with various engineering disciplines, project managers, and stakeholders. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers on the team.

·         Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical and electronic engineering, electromagnetic and systems integration within the maritime domain. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices.

 

Requirements/Skills:

·         Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a related field.

·         Proven experience as an Electrical or Electronic Engineer with a focus on systems integration in the maritime domain.

·         Solid understanding of electrical and electronic systems and technologies relevant to the maritime industry.

·         Proficiency in electrical system design and analysis software, e.g. Solidworks Electrical, Zuken E3 or similar.

·         Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.

·         Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

·         Familiarity with industry standards and regulations relevant to Electrical Systems integration in the electrical and maritime domains (e.g., ASME Y14.100, IEC 60945, MIL-STD-461/464).

·         Familiarity with project management principles and practices.

·         A proactive and self-motivated attitude with a passion for continuous learning and professional development.

·         Ability to obtain any necessary security clearances for working on classified maritime projects (if applicable).

 

 

Physical Requirements:

·         Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

·         Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
