Job Summary:
The Electrical Engineer will architect, design, and develop electronic systems for medical devices, such as medication infusion pumps, patient and in-vitro diagnostic systems, energy delivery and medical robotic systems. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for all phases of the product development cycle including specifications development, architecture and technology selection, risk assessment, design feasibility, detail design and design verification. The Electrical Engineer with work with a multifunctional team to accomplish project goals.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical aspects of electrical systems design on assigned projects.
- Conceive, develop, and select of system architectures and technologies.
- Specify electrical systems requirements and create hardware design description documentation.
- Conduct technical risk analysis and FMEA of the electrical systems design.
- Design electronic system prototypes (SBC’s, microcontrollers, wireless, motors, sensors, power, wiring, displays)
- Conduct prototype testing to established requirements.
- Design for test/diagnostics.
- Integrate electronics design into final system.
- Design test methods.
- Perform design verification for system performance and safety per requirements and standards.
- Execute tasks in a timely manner and be able to prioritize tasks.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Embedded microprocessor hardware systems design for real time embedded applications, ARM based, DSP and mixed signal microcontroller embedded environments.
- Analog circuit design and signal conditioning, power and energy delivery systems design, motor control systems and temperature control systems design.
- Communication buses (such as I2C, SPI, RS232, 1-wire etc.) and Ethernet hardware implementations
- OrCad EDA tools for schematic generation and simulation.
- Ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively, and frequently (oral and written)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
- Knowledgeable of IEC60601-1 electrical safety and IEC60601-1-2 EMC standards and experience working with NRTL to gain certifications.
Education and Experience:
- 8 or more years’ experience designing electrical systems at the board level and systems level.
- Experience in the medical device industry is required.
- B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- M.S. degree preferred.
