Legrand has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer II to join the Data, Power & Control Division in Canonsburg, PA. The Electrical Engineer II is a secondary contributor to the design, documentation, commercialization, testing, integration, and maintenance of embedded IoT devices. Works under moderate supervision and follows guidelines from subject matter experts. Assists senior team members with complex projects and has a basic understanding of the area of specialization.
What Will You Do?
- Assist with the electrical design of wired and wireless energy meters and environmental monitors
- Maintain released product lines with regard to product enhancements, cost-outs, and PCBA manufacturing
- Assist with firmware regression testing and work with external contractors to keep automation tools up to date with new product features & functionalities
- Partner with Production, Quality, and Purchasing staff to ensure product manufacturability
- Provide technical support to other departments for all embedded designs
- Schematic capture and PCB layout
- Write Engineering Specifications based on Marketing requirements
- Assist with defining and executing rigorous verification and validation test plans
- Collaborate with test labs to conduct EMI/EMC testing for global compliance
- Assist senior engineers with DFMEAs, design reviews, and project status meetings
- Assist project manager with cross-functional team meetings to execute new product introductions
- Contribute to the specification of production test fixtures for new products
- Create technical documentation such as drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, installation instructions, work instructions, and product catalogs in support of new product releases
- Collaborate with certification laboratories such as UL, Intertek (ETL), and other various international agencies
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- BS Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
- A minimum of two years of experience in the electrical or electro-mechanical engineering field
- Familiarity with up to 400Vdc and 480Vac power distribution equipment
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required up to 10%
- Prior experience with Starline CPM products is a plus
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Schematic and PCB design tools, with Altium Designer being preferred
- Project management software (Smartsheet, Jira, etc.)
- Embedded microprocessor designs (ARM)
- EMC/EMI Standards and International Safety standards
- SPI, I2C, UART, RS-485, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, USB
- Proficient user of laboratory equipment such as AC/DC power supplies, oscilloscopes, and soldering equipment
- Proficiency with electrical theory in DC and three-phase AC power distribution
- Exceptional organizational, time management, communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of project management processes and principles.
- Experience with mechanical design is a plus. • Knowledge of the design and application of metering and monitoring products is a plus.
Personal Qualities/Behaviors:
- The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection
- Regularly required to communicate with others
- Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs
