Solvent Energy, Inc. is seeking a Renewable Generation and Energy Storage Engineer with experience in project development focused on the ERCOT system in Texas. Experience in other states of the U.S. is preferred but not required. Knowledge and past experience with the interconnection process and filings for solar, wind, and BESS facilities interconnections with ERCOT and the Public Utilities Commission of Texas is required. Solvent Energy’s portfolio will include utility-scale photovoltaic solar generation, wind generation, and energy storage facilities.
This strategic opportunity is for a proven leader with primary responsibilities for the scoping, execution, and management of ERCOT interconnection requirements, facilities design, construction, and operation of renewable generation and energy storage projects. These projects are often fast-paced, multi-faceted, and geographically diverse.
The successful candidate will manage engineering requirements for the ERCOT interconnection process; ERCOT, PUCT, and TSP studies; capacity studies used for planning and siting facilities; engineering requirements and permits; EPC involvement and construction; Owner’s Engineer; and equipment procurement associated with solar panels, racking systems, invertors, substation, transformers and other equipment, transmission line gen-tie, and energy storage development. Candidate is preferred to possess experience preparing site and equipment layouts for solar, wind, energy storage, substation, and security including inverters, transformers, collector lines, and other appurtenant facilities.
Project work may be anywhere in the U.S., but an emphasis will be projects on ERCOT in Texas. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a B.S. or M.S. degree in engineering and be licensed in Texas (preferred) and/or other U.S. states.
- Possess 5 years+ professional experience within the ERCOT System with a broad network of existing relationships with engineering and technical staff of the numerous Transmission Service Providers and within ERCOT. Heavy emphasis on existing relationships within Oncor, AEP, LCRA, Brazos Electric, CenterPoint Energy and other TSPs is preferred.
- This role will involve the input on numerous applications and filings relative to the interconnection and regulatory process for Renewable Generation and Energy Storage Development activities in which Solvent Energy is engaged.
- This candidate will have demonstrated hands-on success in managing projects, decision making, and working both within a group and independently to execute projects. Candidates will have experience and knowledge of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), TCEQ, TRRC, and the Texas PUC.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage complex renewable development and energy storage projects, have strong critical thinking capabilities, and flexible approach to problem solving.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality and professionalism are critical skills. The ability to handle multiple tasks, coordinate effectively with others, and work independently within a team are key to the success of this opportunity. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Ability to see big picture, understanding of company goals and ability to provide leadership for the successful implementation of the Solvent Energy Business Plan.
Consideration will be given to the following:
• Ability to manage the requests for the various administrative authorizations (environmental, PC, prior declaration of work, etc.).
• Understanding of the technical issues of the projects.
• Knowledge of the U.S. energy market allows the candidate to be a source of proposals for the design and configuration of projects.
• Be responsible for monitoring the development of the project and obtaining all the agreements and authorizations necessary for the completion of the project. • A willingness to learn and grow always pushes the candidate to understand the stakes of the issues that motivate his or her actions and to stay informed about new opportunities and technologies.
• Established communication skills that allow you to be the point of entry between the headquarters based in Europe and the various partners in the U.S., moreover a spirit of synthesis allows you to pass on information effectively.
• Experience and familiarity related to the integration and interconnection of renewable energy and energy storage on a number of ISOs throughout the US with a strong emphasis on the ERCOT System.
