JOB SUMMARY
Join our team at Scientific Protein Laboratories (SPL), a world leader in biosourced pharmaceuticals, located just outside of Madison, Wisconsin in Waunakee! SPL is an innovative biopharmaceutical leader with unique products and services supporting the pharmaceutical industry globally. For over 40 years, SPL specializes in the development and cGMP compliant manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). SPL has an exciting opportunity to join the team as an Electrical & Controls Engineer.
This position is responsible for electrical utilities, fire and security systems, and other electrical/electronic and automated systems in a cGMP environment. The work includes directing, reviewing, coordinating, and approving electrical activities for facility needs and automation activities for production needs. They will design electrical systems for construction, maintenance, or repair projects and systems associated with facility operations.
Responsibilities include:
· Prepare designs and layouts of electrical and mechanical systems with regard to size, space, capacities, and economy and provide technical specifications for electrical portions of construction, maintenance or repair projects which are to be accomplished by contract or internally.
· Utilize Rockwell Automation Software to develop and maintain HMI and PLC programs to support automated utility and production control systems.
· Assist with generating internal plant standards and protocols and monitoring contractor and technician work to ensure compliance with those standards.
· Oversee electricians, electronic technicians, system integrators, and contract programmers to provide leadership in the maintenance department for electrical and instrumentation matters.
· Manage capital projects to deliver high quality installations with on-time and on-budget execution.
· Conduct field surveys to investigate existing equipment layouts and conditions.
· Develop electrical policies and procedures related to maintenance of electrical and/or automated facilities, grounds, and equipment.
· Ensure that department training meets cGMP, OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements as they relate to electrical and instrument issues.
· Analyze system needs, make calculations, and determine requirements for improvements as well as investigate codes and ensure that SPL installations meet the requirements.
· Utilize vibration analysis, thermal analysis, and other predictive maintenance tools to improve plant reliability.
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
Experience: 2+ years of experience required, 5+ years preferred
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. required, Bachelor degree or above in Electrical Engineering or related discipline preferred
