Construction Site Quality Specialist - Field Technician
Location: Akron, OH
Job type and Duration: Contract (Long term)
** This is a high-travel position with an opportunity for Per Diem **
Our client is hiring an Electric Utility Site Quality Specialist - Field Technician to support a program consisting of a combination of small to moderate-size transmission, substation, and communication projects. The Field Technician will report directly to the Closeout Team Lead and is responsible for supporting project closeout requirements within a specified time frame, establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with the Owner, and subcontractors associated with any project.
Candidate must have heavy electrical industry and some civil experience.
Preferred: Procore and OSHA 10/30. Looking for 10-12 years relevant exp.
Local candidates preferred due to potential of long term and EO conversion.
10-12 years of experience. Main focus will be on substation projects.
The Staff Site Quality Specialist - Field Technician is responsible for the implementation of a quality program on projects to confirm projects are constructed, fabricated, examined, tested, and documented according to the project specifications, governing codes of construction, and contract documents.

The Staff Site Quality Specialist - Field Technician is responsible for the implementation of a quality program on projects to confirm projects are constructed, fabricated, examined, tested, and documented according to the project specifications, governing codes of construction, and contract documents.
- Coordinate with project teams for site visits to perform assigned tasks
- Perform Quality Assurance Review of field documentation, test reports, and document management
- Coordinate with the field teams to resolve any non-compliant documentation
- Track the status of documentation and drawings
- Perform site inspections for Project Managers and Engineering requests for information (RFI)
- Data Collection
- Process Development
- Collaborate and guide the scope, complexity, and logistics of work related to quality.
- Understand and utilize project specifications to proactively support the successful fabrication/installation/construction of all project elements and coordinate with construction and engineering to resolve project issues.
- Effectively communicate with project personnel to validate specifications and code inspections are understood and met.
- Proactively evaluate the implementation of the quality program (e.g., document management, material management, special processes, etc.) and bring the attention of non-compliant processes to the project team when required.
- Inspect fabricated/installed/constructed elements to confirm they comply with project specifications and drawings and results are documented as required.
- Proactively evaluate installation/construction activities and participate in project schedule look-ahead meetings to identify and discuss any upcoming complexities with the project team.
- Evaluate quality verification documents to confirm all attributes are addressed as they are issued and confirm compliance with the specifications and drawings.
- Generate accurate inspection reports and daily databases to track inspection status, results, and metrics.
- Participate in the walk-down and turnover process and perform and document acceptance inspections when required.
- Coordinate/lead quality meetings with clients and subcontractors, as required.
- Recommend enhancements and changes to the Quality Management System.
- Proactively communicate quality opportunities or concerns to the project team.
- Understand and interpret discipline-specific codes, specifications, and client requirements.
- Track project quality metrics.
- Review and confirm the project turnover deliverables are populated and correspond to project activities.
- Perform quality orientation on a project site, as needed.
- Coaching/training / mentoring field staff, if needed, related to quality and quality processes
- High School Diploma/GED Required
- A minimum of five (5) years of high-voltage transmission line or substation project experience is preferred.
- Must have detailed knowledge in substations, networks/telecommunications, or transmission lines.
- Knowledge of NERC / FERC requirements is a bonus but not required.
- Ability to travel.
- A valid driver's license is required.
