- Engineer, develop, calibrate, optimize, and release Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV), Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV), Battery Electric Truck (BET) base calibrations of electric motor (surface mounted permanent magnet (SPM), interior-mounted permanent magnet (IPM), and induction motors) and Traction Power Inverter Module (TPIM) for high power Electric Drive system consisting of high voltage power inverters and electric motors, using MATLAB, Simulink, ETAS INCA, ETAS MDA, Puma, AVL Concerto, BusMaster and Creta tools.
- Perform extensive physics-based calculations and motor characterization based on maximum torque per ampere to achieve torque accuracy, maximizing system efficiency over the entire operating region, and to improve vehicle drive quality. Use Active Load Emulator (ALE) test stand to engineer and develop calibrations to support internal and supplier invertor hardware validations, including fast resolution of testing issues, and confirm on time supplier delivery of new HEV/BEV/BET Traction Power Inverter Modules (TPIMs).
- Perform Hardware in the Loop (SIL) and Software in the Loop (SIL) simulations to analyze and correlate electric machines and high power inverters.
- Plan and perform calibration development and testing in high voltage dynamometer, transmission, and vehicle test environment.
Additional Description
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, and one (1) year of experience as an Engineer, or related role.
- Must also have experience with: calibrating and optimizing passenger vehicle base calibrations or base Onboard Diagnostics (OBD) calibrations of electric motors or engines, using MATLAB, Simulink, and ETAS INCA tools.
