***SWING SHIFT - 10 AM TO 7 PM***
SUMMARY:
Assist with the management of the facility Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure operations minimize the impact upon the environment and a safe and incident-free work environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in creating Security and Safety Training Programs as well as developing materials and tracking progress.
- Reviews current safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Submits recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
- Assist in the implementation of safety initiatives such as metric tracking systems, training systems, etc.
- Assist with maintaining and distributing reports on a routine basis tracking the status of various environment, health & safety metrics, and initiatives versus goal.
- Collaborates with line staff and management to implement safety and security policies and procedures.
- Works with all departments and new hires to train and implement safety policies.
- Conduct weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual inspections and follow-up on corrective actions.
- Daily audits of facility safety.
- Responsible for regularly scheduled safety committee meetings.
- Assist in creating Safety Training Program and Materials and track progress.
- Coordinates the safety programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of safety and security programs.
- Stops operations and activities that could harm staff or equipment.
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Evaluates accident reports, ensuring the timely processing of and reviews medical reports, witness statements, department investigation results and other documentation. Compiles facts and data regarding accident reports and filed cases.
- Advises and/or assists departments in conducting investigation of accident reports, including interviewing of witnesses and procurement of relevant documentation.
- Documents telephone conversations, witness statements, medical reports, accident investigation results.
- Must assist and be a leader in applying safety key concepts to provide the road map to zero injuries & world class performance (Training, Behavior Observations, and Engagement)
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent coordination and teamwork skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct training in a classroom and industrial environment.
- Excellent organizational skills, diligence, and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- Working knowledge of office procedures and files.
- Desire and ability to learn new skills.
- Multiple years of safety, security and/or food production experience preferred.
- Advanced training or certification in safety and security preferred.
- Ability to travel throughout site and multiple locations as required to conduct safety inspections.
- Knowledge of OSHA or DOT regulations preferred.
- English/Spanish bilingual preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a manufacturing setting and is performed 50/50 in an office environment and production areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those individual encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
WORK HOURS:
- This is a swing shift role, Monday to Friday, 10 am to 7 pm, with occasional OT.
- The candidate for this role may occasionally work the 1st shift (8 am to 5 pm).
- Flexibility is available with the EHS Manager's approval.
