The Cary Company is looking for an EHS Intern to support our Addison, IL office. EHS interns engage in variety of activities in a wide range of EHS disciplines and undertake projects directed at specific topics such as equipment safety, environmental compliance, and training & education. They conduct safety walkthroughs and audits, deliver safety trainings to employees, participate in analyses of workplace incidents and help drive corrective actions We are seeking a candidate who has the ability to multitask and who is interested in working for a fast paced environment. Role will also require assistance with various office projects. We have a positive and optimistic culture, and are looking to hire this type of person. Internship could lead to a full time position.
- EHS interns have a genuine passion for the health and safety of people, respect for our environment and a deep desire to learn and acquire knowledge and skills related to environment, health, safety and sustainability. EHS interns interact with a variety of individuals and establish and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external customers
Safety: Responsible in leading or participating on policy and procedure development teams of safety initiatives, pilots and roll out of new processes. This also includes setting up and managing various safety projects in person to include project management.
Environmental: Responsible for various aspects of environmental compliance such as: 1) Ensuring The Cary Company conforms to all Federal, State, County and City regulations 2) Performing chemical audits & updating chemical inventory; ensuring SDS’s are on the file for all chemicals and/or 3) Audit/assist with training of health & safety and/or environmental topics
Requirements
- 3rd / 4th year student working towards a Bachelor’s Degree OR 5th year Master’s student working towards a degree in the following areas: Environmental Studies, Industrial Safety, Public Health, Safety, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or Safety Engineering
- Major must be related to the Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or Environmental or Engineering field.
- Ability to successfully multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- A strong work ethic with a positive “can-do” attitude and one who takes pride in the quality of their work
- This position requires an individual who is self-directed and detail-oriented with an inquisitive nature and desire to solve problems
Type of Job: Undergrad Internship or Paid Post Grad Internship – 3 to 6 months (Full time or Part Time)
