Medical Advantage is currently seeking an EHR Consultant to support our Practice Solutions Team. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, have a passion for EHR  this may be the position for you!

As part of our Practice Solutions team, you will work with healthcare organizations to ensure the optimization of the EHR. Under minimal supervision, this position will provide education, system build, training, optimization, customization, and other EHR activities. Work is on-site in client practices or remote, depending upon the need of the client or project. This role requires that the consultant travel on a regular basis.

Duties:

  • Analyze, document, and report on the requirements of healthcare organizations as it pertains to the adoption and adherence to government and other incentive programs and compliance programs.

  • Conduct comprehensive EHR assessments and gap analyses focusing on EHR usage, setup, workflows, and system build.

  • Design and configure the EHR most efficiently to support healthcare organization requirements and future state workflows.

  • Identify and resolve issues critical to the client's strategic and operational success.

  • Participate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of standardization, utilization, integration, and optimization activities, including new application modules, version upgrades, and enhancements to existing applications.

  • Provide clients and team members with expertise related to project scope, implementation, modification, optimization, and support of complex clinical application environments.

  • Provide industry best practice advice and support for healthcare organizations.

  • Redesign and establish workflows based on best practices and develop comprehensive implementation plans for each client’s unique needs.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to support and maintain applications in a manner that is aligned with organizational workflows and priorities.

  • Facilitate and lead EHR implementations and go-lives.

  • Provide post-implementation support to healthcare organizations with ongoing enhancements to EHR.

  • Assess, plan, develop, implement, and deliver training programs.

  • Coordinate and perform EHR testing; assist in the interpretation of test plans and troubleshooting.

  • Develop, create, and maintain training documentation, fundamental guides, PowerPoint, and other presentations.

  • Directly and remotely support healthcare organizations in the use of the EHR.

  • Identify, analyze, and solve support issues submitted by clients and provide clear and documented resolution steps.

  • Apply consulting skills to include data gathering and analysis, communications with an emphasis on relationship development and growth, demonstration, and application of knowledge and expertise in specialized areas.

  • Consult on pay-for-performance programs.

  • Keep up-to-date with government initiatives that impact healthcare technology.

  • Actively seek and explore opportunities to add value and grow business with existing clients and projects.

  • Maintain and expand client relationships through the delivery of high-quality work.

  • Complete client work in accordance with established budgets, work plans, quality standards, and timeframes.

  • Support the organization by practicing fiscal responsibility as well as maintaining compliance with policies and regulations.

  • Clearly document and communicate the progress of initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of written proposals, charters, project scope definitions, and other internal and external collateral.

  • Create and update internal and external documentation and presentations.

  • Formulate and present recommendations and solutions concisely. 

  • Lead client interviews to understand complex business issues.

  • Update internal records/timesheets.

  • Lead, coach, develop, and oversee the efforts of junior staff.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in healthcare or related field required.
  • 3-5 years of EHR analyst or consulting experience.
  • Experience in FQHC/RHC preferred.
  • Prior experience with analyzing business processes and information management needs of healthcare organizations.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of medical practice operations and clinical documentation.
  • General to proficient knowledge of pay-for-performance programs.
  • Ability to conduct engaging and practical training sessions for a diverse audience at various skill levels.
  • Experience with developing training materials and curriculum for training sessions.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills (verbal and written) with experience in communicating with external customers.
  • Excellent listening, presentation, and consultative skills.
  • Must be able to develop effective working relationships with the client and team members, including demonstrating a high level of composure, professionalism, and knowledge of healthcare and business environments.
  • Professional demeanor, strong work ethic, discrete, resourceful, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to translate complex business problems
  • Must be able independently to prioritize, organize, multitask, assess, and reallocate work to meet deadlines.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, and recommend solutions based on our current or potential future capabilities.
  • Strong project management skills with intense attention to detail.
  • Self-directed minimal supervision, decisive, with the ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and successfully interact with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Good driving record, willing to travel frequently and able to stay overnight for business as needed (Travel up to 75%).
