Utilize the nursing process to provide comprehensive nursing care during the perioperative phase. This position facilitates the gathering and analysis of quality and performance data for the organization through coordination of information including data collection, analysis, and trending of required regulatory indicators, external agency review and other select clinical outcome measurements. This nurse also assists in staff education regarding external measures, improvement processes, clinical education of new devices, products, and regulatory compliance. Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate educational activities for clinical staff. Provide departmental orientation for all new staff members and maintain annual mandatory education and documentation of completion for department. Provide training and instruction for BLS to all department staff members as required by state and federal requirements. Responsible for performing quarterly emergency preparedness drills and maintaining the reports from such drills. Schedule staff members in timely fashion for mandatory certifications required, based on clinical job classification.
Education:
- Registered Nurse Degree
Certifications/Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of peri-operative experience, preferably in an ambulatory setting. Understanding of quality assurance, with at least 2 years’ experience in a relevant nursing education role preferred.
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS , and preferred PALS certification
- Completes Center education requirements for all staff by deadlines set by organization.
- Coordinates all quality assurance activities for the Center and reports to the MEC quarterly.
- Maintains CPR instructor credentials and maintains center colleague compliance with CPR certification requirements .
- Assist infection control RN with the infection control program.
- This nurse also assists in staff education regarding external measures, improvement processes, clinical education of new devices, products, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in maintaining the Center’s environment of care and safety program.
- Responsible for performing quarterly emergency preparedness drills and maintaining the reports from such drills.
