Job Description:

Reporting to the Director of Academic Innovation and Digital Learning, the Educational Technologist facilitates technology-enhanced teaching and learning by providing technical support and training related to the College's online learning management system (LMS) and educational technology for online, remote synchronous, hybrid, and technology-enhanced courses.  Works as part of the Academic Innovation and Digital Learning team to assist faculty with the delivery of courses using educational technology.  Provides learning management support and troubleshooting for faculty and students.

Essential Duties:

Provide consultative advice to faculty on technical, multimedia and audio-visual presentation methods, techniques, and equipment - advises users on technical options.

Provide one-on-one assistance and consultation to students and faculty utilizing the college's learning management system and educational technologies.

Support the oversight, administration, and technical performance of academic systems and technologies.

Work with a wide variety of technologies including web, multimedia, and audio-visual tools with particular focus on supporting the campus learning management system.

Triage and troubleshoot software application problems within the LMS.

Promote the use of classroom and online technology to faculty and staff.

Provide educational technology training to faculty.

Assist in enhancing teaching and learning through the identification, evaluation, adoption, and integration of effective educational technology innovations into the curriculum.

Research, explore, and advise on emerging technologies that may be beneficial and applicable to the academic mission of the college.

Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in educational technology, instructional design, education, social science discipline, or a related-field
  • 1-3 years professional work experience working with a learning management system and instructional technology tools; experience in higher education a plus.
  • Knowledge of up-to-date instructional technologies including tools such as Canvas, Panopto, Anthology Ally, Cidi Labs DesignPLUS.
  • Professional experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Zoom.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of instructional design, including digital accessibility, backwards design, ADDIE, Communities of Inquiry, Universal Design for Learning, game-based learning, and/or other principles.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at all levels of the college including students.
  • Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to find solutions even under occasionally stressful conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative/team-based environment.
  • Strong and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in educational technology, instructional design, education, social science discipline, or a related-field.
  • Certification in Quality Matters, Universal Design and/or ADA/WCAG compliance.
  • Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating professional development training sessions.
  • Experience with a variety of Web 2.0 instructional technology tools for classroom or LMS use.
  • Experience with audio/visual editing and creation software, such as Audacity, Camtasia, or others.
  • Experience with course authoring software such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, or others.

  • This is an in-person position on RVCC's campus in Branchburg, NJ.
