Scope of Work:
The Educational Technologistwill provide technology support for faculty and staff working on online/hybrid courses and online graduate student services and resources. He/she will assist with the application and management of technology-rich learning environments for project initiatives. He/she will also provide technical assistance with the implementation of third-party applications. The Educational Technologist will provide IT support to faculty and facilitate their learning about best practices on the creation, application, and management of technology-rich learning environments. He/she will collaborate with the technology team in the development of a series of graduate student professional development. . The Educational Technologist will work with the project director to ensure the implementation of project activities in collaboration with faculty, division chair, institutional technology teams and project staff.
This position requires an individual to work with a high level of independence, have strong project management, communication and collaboration skills, a willingness to provide superior customer service, and a passion for creating and supporting innovative educational solutions for students and faculty.
Responsibilities:
- Provide technology support for AU faculty and staff working on targeted online/hybrid courses and student services/resources.
- Assist the Graduate Student Center Director in developing online graduate student services/resources.
- Maintain records and assist with project evaluation.
- Coordinate with Project Director, project staff, and faculty/staff to ensure institutionalization of new initiatives.
- Other functions related to the nature of the position may be assigned according to service needs.
Education: Master Degree in Educational Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
Requirements:
- Experience in troubleshooting and/or using technology for educational purpose.
- Experience in the implementation, training and support of the learning management system in higher education institutions.
- Proficient with Blackboard learning management system; familiarity with Ellucian, Colleague preferred.
- Experience using the learning management system.
- Experience facilitating the integration of technology in a higher education environment.
- Knowledge of the pedagogical field and best practices in teaching and learning in higher education.
- Working knowledge of ADA and other compliance requirements related to educational technology tools and platforms.
- Ability to pick up and learn new systems quickly and efficiently and be able to communicate findings to other members of the team.
- Proficient in the use of relevant software and programs.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, Smartsheet, DocuSign, Excel, and search engines.
- Proficient in the use of online learning management systems and up-to-date instructional technologies.
- Knowledge of instructional design principles and tools.
- Ability to collaborate with people of different educational backgrounds, cultures, and roles.
- Ability to work independently or in teams, stay focused, and finish projects on time.
- Ability to take initiative, solving different problems which may arise during day-to-day operations.
