WORK DAYS: 195 days, Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
SALARY: Supervisory, $73,887 - $110,503 annual salary - Salary prorated based on start date, and prior experience.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the Director of Special Education or designee, provide educationally related occupational therapy services to
students with various disabilities according to the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) and perform related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Required:
1. Bachelor's Degree or higher with an earned degree in occupational therapy from a college or university with an accredited occupational therapy program.
2. Possess a valid California driver's license.
3. Current license from the California Board of Occupational Therapy.
4. Capacity to follow guidelines of determination and provisions of educationally necessary occupational therapy.
5. Interpersonal skills including tact, patience and courtesy; strong verbal and written communication skills.
  1. Desirable:
1. Two or more years' experience with students with disabilities.
2. Bilingual (English/Spanish)
DUTIES AND RPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Schedule, plan, and administer occupational therapy programs for students with special education eligibilities in areas including perceptual-motor skills, motor coordination, sensory development, applicable activities of daily living and/or other problems for the purpose of supporting access to and making progress in the school curriculum in accordance with the IEP goals and objectives.
  2. Conduct educationally related occupational therapy assessment, which includes evaluating the student within the educational setting assessing strengths as well as what may be interfering with learning and participation in the context of his or her curricular activities, routines, and environments.
  3. Develop, coordinate, and implement individual occupational therapy intervention plans that support the IEP goals and objectives in collaboration with the IEP team.
  4. Develop an intervention plan that may consist of a continuum of services including integrated classroom activities, group and individual interventions, and home programs as appropriate in meeting the student's needs in the least restrictive environment.
  5. Document findings, actions taken, and recommendations made regarding areas of service.
  6. Collaborate continually with the IEP team to develop and modify instructional and intervention strategies and monitor progress.
  7. Recommend, design, create, and assist in the procurement of adaptive equipment.
  8. Provide consultation to classroom teachers, educational staff, administrators and parents.
  9. Maintain records as required by law, Board policy, and administrative regulations.
  10. Demonstrate educational and developmental strategies to students and families for successful school to home management of perceptual motor, sensory, and self-care programs.
  11. Provide formal and informal training to educational staff and families in relevant areas focusing on occupational therapy principles as they relate to the development and education of students with special needs.
  12. Consult and collaborate with community agencies and early intervention programs regarding occupational therapy services for students.
  13. Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the laws and policies governing Special Education and Early Intervention in California that pertain to the delivery of occupational therapy services.
  14. Attend and participate in Individualized Education Program team meetings, when requested, and report on individual progress. Keep abreast of identified Individualized Education Program objectives so as to incorporate them for the student.
  15. Participate in District programs, including MAA and LEA billing.
  16. Attend and participate in faculty meetings, staff meetings, and parent conferences as required.
  17. Other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

    5. Stand, walk, stoop, twist, bend over, grasp, reach overhead, push, pull, and move, lift and/or carry 0 to 20 pounds to waist height.

  1. MENTAL:
1. Able to concentrate on a single task for up to two (2) hours at a time.
2. Able to learn quickly and adapt to a variety of machinery, instructions, and task methods.
3. Able to meet deadlines in terms of work assignment schedules.
  1. SOCIAL:
    1. Interact daily in person with other members of the school staff and possess comfortable interpersonal skills and cooperative attitudes.
    2. Because of the time urgent nature of duties and because work product of position is interdependent with that of other staff, consistent attendance is required.
    3. Convey an understanding, patient attitude toward other students, parents, staff and members of community.
    4. Maintain the privacy of confidential information.
