Summary
This is a one-fill position for one (1) ENC in Ambulatory Care. The ENC will partner with clinic and service line leadership to develop and implement education opportunities for staff nurses and assistive personnel working in the Ambulatory Care setting. The primary focus of this position is the Ambulatory CareNurse Resource Pool (ACNRP) but person fulfilling this role can be asked to assist other service lines and locations, as needed.

Hourly range for RSAM Registered Nurses $39.47 - $61.39 / hour
? Evening Shift Differential-$3.00 / hour

? Night Shift Weekend Differential- $6.90 / hour
? Charge Nurse Differential- $1.00 / hour

Responsibilities*
  • In coordination with the leadership team, design and implement orientation for all new staff nurses including scheduling, preceptor assignment including oversight of orientation documentation and competency assessments.
  • Develop standard orientation documents for staff nurses and assistive personnel.
  • Conduct education assessment surveys on a regular schedule to determine learning needs of nurses and assistive personnel.
  • Coordinate in-services based on results of education assessment surveys and other identified needs for learning.
  • Provide and coordinate continued education (CE) opportunities for staff nurses.
  • Become a superuser for MiChart and act as a resource to clinical staff.
  • Partner with Ambulatory Care leadership and other roles on quality improvement initiatives. This includes designing/planning, implementation, re-evaluation of initiatives. Report data on quality improvement projects to Ambulatory Care leadership and staff.
  • Develop/revise patient education materials in partnership with Unit Based Committees, physicians, staff, and other key stakeholders.
  • Assist Ambulatory Care leadership with special projects as needed.
  • Ensure staff complete and maintain required competencies including institutional mandatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with ENCs across Ambulatory Care with goal of establishing a network and sharing best practices.
  • Assist in the development of protocols, standing orders and guidelines.
  • Promote the use of evidenced based practice in the Ambulatory Care setting.
  • Encourage and assist with development of abstracts for speaking and poster sessions at conferences.
  • Encourage and support nursing staff advancing in the professional development framework.
  • Attends and participates in conferences and continuing education/staff development programs to maintain knowledge of current literature, research an evidence-based practice and health policy.
  • The ENC will act as a liaison between clinical support staff and the leadership team.
  • Membership and participation on health system committees.
  • Serve on committee and task forces as needed.
  • Always promote and demonstrate High Reliability Organization principles.
  • Assist with staffing when critical needs arise.
  • Accurately maintain documentation in the electronic medical record as well as other systems.

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted under the Role-Specific Advancement Model (RSAM) as:
ENC- COMPETENT. Actual RSAM LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
RSAM levels range from ENC-COMPETENT to ENC-EXPERT TO ENC-MASTERY.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position. Posting may be filled after the initial 5-day posting period. Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.

Required Qualifications*
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent education and experience
  • Five (5) or more years of RN nursing experience
  • Experience as a charge nurse, preceptor, and/or unit/organizational committee work
  • Three (3) or more years (in the last 5 years) RN experience working in an Ambulatory Care clinic setting

Desired Qualifications*
  • Master of Science in Nursing
  • Two (2) or more years of ENC experience
  • Experience in teaching, writing objectives and program planning
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate change, direct nursing practice, prioritize, problem solve, evaluate outcomes and delegate as evidenced by previous employment experience
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills as evidence by excellence in verbal and written communication skills, positive and professional attitude, and ability to provide direct and effective feedback. Other characteristics include adaptability, flexibility, ability to establish working relationships, detail oriented, and demonstrated ability to problem solve
  • Float RN experience.
  • Knowledge of the Michigan Medicine?s policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated computer competency including the use of Microsoft word, excel, power point and outlook
  • Proficiency in MiChart
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Expertise in quality improvement and LEAN programs
  • High level of self-motivation

Work Schedule
Primary focus: Multiple specialty clinics within the Ambulatory CareNurse Resource Pool (ACNRP) but person fulfilling this role can be asked to assist other service lines and locations, as needed.
Hours: 40 hours/week
Shift/Days: Primarily day shift, requires flexibility to meet the needs of the unit(s). May include evenings and weekends
Location: Multiple sites across Ambulatory Care, including but not limited to Ann Arbor, Brighton, Howell, Livonia, Northville, and Ypsilanti.
The ability to travel is required.
Note: All new employees will be expected to float to a designated unit(s) in times of low census.
